Has it not been discussed before? I did a quick search and fount several thread dating back where this has been discussed i sometimes feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. I don't think a backip pg is essential right now untill we see how this team plays. If you disagree fine

Omg!!! Its a DISCUSSION FORUM!!!

Show me the rules stating something discussed previously shall not be discussed again???

and please dont tell people what they should and shouldn't discuss...

Isn't that what your post said??
Do you not see how incredibly backwards your post is being at the moment?

Your Post: We shouldn't discuss this.

My Post: if you dont like it thats fine.

Your Post: dont tell me what to discuss!

Lmao... really??

Anyhow...

back to whether CJ will embrace the role with his new teammates and be pass first when Dame isn't in?

i think its questionable. I cant wait to see it evolve though!

actually it seems like many are making statements or asking questions about how cj will fit now or what he will do or shouldnt do aNd you are calling it complaining...

It's not the discussion of effectiveness that is a problem, it's posters saying the team needs to acquire a rotational PG to this roster such as Ricky Rubio or Rajon Rondo, that the front office has made a failure by not acquiring such a player. That thinking is ridiculous.

And?

Look i made a joke earlier in this thread to lock the thread.
Because i believe the same. Its not an issue.
But it was a joke.

Some of yall need to pull that pole out of...

and loosen up....

anyhow....

Will CJ make the move to true distributor or continue pounding the ball into the paint with his head down when Dame leaves the floor?

That is the question.

Things that make you go hmmmm...

(but shouldn't be discussed...)

repeatedly labeling thinking that doesn't match yours as "ridiculous" seems a little ridiculous

In Portland, Gordon would be Draymond-esque — package Zach and whatever else it would take. Use RoCo as the backup 4/5.

Our defense would take another step in the right direction:

A large proportion of Aaron Gordon’s defensive value stems from his isolation defense. The combination of strength and quickness is truly oppressive, with opposing players recording a meager 0.70 points per possession against Gordon in isolation for the 2019-2020 season thus far. This places Gordon in the 85.2 percentile in terms of points per possession against. What makes this defensive effort even more impressive is the fact that Gordon often is tasked with defending against the opposing team’s most proficient point of attack player (w/o Jonathan Isaac).

In a homestand against the Milwaukee Bucks, Aaron Gordon was matched up against Giannis Antetokounmpo. He was successful in denting the Greek Freak’s ballistic drives by using his lower body strength to dislodge drives to the basket. This often forced Antetokounmpo to deviate from a direct path of attack to the basket and allow help defense from Vucevic to smother rim attempts. Aaron Gordon’s unique combination of strength and speed was also demonstrated in a game on the road against the Houston Rockets. Gordon was tasked with the unenviable role of guarding Russell Westbrook in the Rockets five-out spacing.

I'm extremely skeptical that we can keep Giles after this season.
Harry Giles has always been a stud whenever he could play but he blew out his knee when he was 16 and has done it almost every other year since then. He has also had lingering effects from those injuries that needed surgery like long bouts of soreness that caused a lot of missed games and muscle injuries around his injured knee that also cost him a number of games. If he gets healthy, he'll have a lot of adjusting to do on a roster that might not have a lot of playing time for him. I don't know if we will keep him either but it might be because we don't want him or because there's no room for him to prove himself so he wants to go somewhere he can. I sincerely doubt that any team will pay him good money based on one healthy season. This isn't Zach with a bunch of different random injuries all over the place on his body. This is a guy who has had serious knee issues for a long time.

Looking like a world beater in two scrimmages against your former team isn't that impressive. There's still a lot to find out about Giles before we have to worry about what it would take to keep him. DJJ was a calculated move by Neil and Giles was a flyer... which is also a smart move to make.

CJ for Jerami Grant and Mason Plumlee plus a draft pick ....Detroit needs a guy who can create his shot and we need to shed that CJ contract and fill the roster with positions of need....Plumlee is a good passer and good backup plus he's close with Dame. Grant would be a great pickup..

Regarding our Siakam trade ideas the below is from Athletic. No7+Wiseman seems better than everything we can offer to a rebuilding team. Siakam makes so much sense for Golden State unfortunately and they even have the No.14 pick if 7+Wiseman is not enough.

  • Golden State assured itself of an additional first-round pick when Minnesota failed to land in the top 3 on lottery night. The Warriors now have the seventh and 14th picks plus last year’s second overall pick, James Wiseman, and there is a widespread expectation that the Warriors will use No. 7 and Wiseman, in particular, to seek more immediate upgrades to the roster. One name to watch: Pascal Siakam.
