CJ to San Antonio

Dejounte Murray +? to Portland

If Neil fails to trade CJ to Philly for Simmons or Thybulle I think Murray should be a prime target.

Lockdown defender potential. Made the All-Defensive second team in his second year.

San Antonio rumored to be willing to deal Murray and White.

I could see the trade... I know a lot in here would hate it but I think Turner is a better fit for today's game than Nurk and he has an extra year on his contract... I don't know if we give up both Nas and a first but whatever these guys want to think.

I will say that the idea that Norm picks up his player's option makes these guys look like fucking idiots. (sorry if this is someone in here's IG, no personal attack intended)

I'm pretty sure it's sexual harassment to put his username in front of anyone else's. Also if you do, it will probably result in some weird Mrs @THE HCP jokes.

I hope this HCP dude has a good sense of humor. Knows i had nothing to do with this?

I'm pretty sure that the best value we can get out of CJ (unless we can get Simmons for CJ and a boatload of picks) will come from the Knicks. So whatever young player(s) and picks CJ to the Knicks can yield plus future picks from us should be able to get us Siakam if Toronto is ready to move him and that might be enough to move him and then Van Vleet and make their team really young.

Then re-sign Norm. Hopefully pick up a legit bench player with the taxpayer MLE.

Dame, Norm, RoCo, Siakam, Nurk, DJJ, TPMLE, Nas and Ant. I still don't know if that would be good enough for Dame but maybe.

GODFATHER PACKAGE TARGETS:

Jerami Grant
Bradley Beal
Pascal Siakam
Ben Simmons
Zach Lavine/Nikola Vucevic (if Chicago blows it up)
Gordon Hayward
Tobias Harris
Harrison Barnes?
Christian Wood?

Man, there is really not much out there.

Okay, think tank! Discussion question for the board. Who is/are this year's Jrue Holiday(s)? I'm really struggling to find reasonable options here...

As I see it there are likely three requirements that need to be met to find any suitable trade that might meaningfully upgrade the Blazers roster around Dame.
  1. The trading team must not be a team interested in acquiring Dame for themselves (or at the very least recognize that it would be extremely unrealistic). If you think the trading team would reasonably say, "let me wait a few months because I could get Dame instead," that team and its assets are off the table.
  2. The player(s) must be of significant value/fit to the resulting Blazers roster that it would make it reasonably enticing for Dame to want to give it a go with the group.
  3. The trading team would need to be either moving towards getting younger/rebuilding or feel that the non-Dame assets they receive in return from the Blazers move them significantly closer to contention/playoffs (wherever they are at in the timeline).
Who are these players/teams and out of curiosity, what would your maximum, "I-won't-go-higher-than-this" offer for them be?

What about DeMar DeRozen. His contract status is up in the air, but if you could get him along with Mills for CJ/Jones Jr. I could see potential there, for starting lineup and bench. But is it possible through, sign and trade.

DeRozan hardcaps us, which means Powell likely gone.

Your first requirement might be right but it could also be wrong. Neil can take a very strong stance when trying to trade CJ to teams that think they have a shot at acquiring Dame that if Dame were to go on the market because they wouldn't play ball in a fair deal, Neil won't be sending Dame their way... with so many options for Dame.

So while the Sixers say we don't want CJ for Simmons we want Dame, if Neil pulls that card and offers them CJ and every future pick we can... there's a real possibility that we can pair Simmons with Dame.

If that doesn't work with Philly I think that the Knicks are probably the team that will give the most value for CJ so we would need to leverage that in a three way trade. Maybe because they have the first pick and a ton of young talent the Pistons will take a package of Knicks picks and Toppin plus future firsts from us for Jerami Grant. I put this in another post but there's a similar scenario in Toronto that might make Paskal Siakam a target for a three way trade with the Knicks as well. I don't see deals for a lot of the other targets that B Roy listed. I don't want Beal because I think he's still too redundant with Dame to make a big enough difference. I don't want Hayward because of his injury problems.

So for me it's: Simmons, Grant and Siakam that we might be able to get and would make Dame see the team as much closer to contending. Oh and if we got any of these guys we would have to re-sign Norm... to make the team good enough.

so fellow kids, what realistic trade can neil olshey pull out

if i heard right, dame has suggested some names

Most contending teams are at the Hard Cap, and all are over the cap. But if they can do it, why can't we. Get it done.

I thought about that exact scenario when compiling the requirements. If I'm Morey though, I am not so desperate for CJ specifically, that I am willing to give up the possibility of Dame. It's a game of chicken to be sure, but if I'm Morey, even if I slightly prefer CJ, I feel like I can always fall back on a Brogdon+1st/Sexton package if need be. I don't care what Neil is telling me now... I'm holding out for Dame.

Siakam and Grant are more interesting though. If Toronto is interested in the quick retool and wants Dame, I think they are off the table. If Toronto is interested in a rebuild instead, the Toronto/NYK/POR CJ-Siakam/picks swap makes decent sense... and I'm sure we'd need to throw in several picks. Not sure where Toronto is at right now.

Grant does seem like the most reasonable option. I'm not sure if he sufficiently raises the Blazers ceiling enough for Dame, but he does seem to be the closest to the Holiday comp (good, slightly older player on team wanting to get young) that's out there. I don't think he is nearly as good as Holiday, but he does provide better roster balance. This would also likely need to be a three-way trade though, as I can't imagine Detroit wanting CJ unless they see value in trying to flip him down the road for greater value.

The thing is, I think if we put CJ and 3 future firsts, then we have a better offer than Brogdon and a first or a Sexton package. I do think it would be a game of chicken and it might not be likely but there is still a chance that with the right amount of future picks we could make CJ into Simmons. Full disclosure... I really want that trade the most so I'm biased.

Yeah, the opportunity of Simmons with Dame makes a ton of sense for us. Playing devil's advocate with myself here, the one advantage to the godfather trade for Simmons (or whoever really) is that many teams are going to assume that this situation is not sustainable and Dame will want out very soon... in that scenario, our future firsts are going to look very, very enticing.

Here's one:
CJ for Gallinari, Reddish & Fernando

Hawks may like to have a dynamic scoring backcourt

Which hard caps us at $143 which would be hard to keep Norm and stay under.

If they are going to trade CJ and sign Norm, why not acquire a vet stretch 4 and a young 2/3?
Reddish I think is going to be a decent two way player.
We need a taller 4 that can flat out shoot.
Just a thought....sure like most proposals in here it wouldn't happen.

he’s a free agent?
Don’t need to be a free agent to be recruited these days. He’s not doing shit in Detroit. If he wants to win, it’s in both his and Detroit’s best interests to send him somewhere he can.
