Powell is a great third option.

Billups has been talking up Nurk. Maybe he can get the most out of him to be our 2nd option.

Green would give us such a different look. I'd give it a shot and see how things go. Especially if that is what Dame wants.

If we get Green instead of Simmons, we probably don't add much more to CJ. For Simmons we probably give up multiple picks.
For those multiple picks we get a better player when he's "broken" and we get an opportunity at having a true superstar with Dame. This is the most athletic big in the league not named Giannis. A guy that has a great handle, can find the open man and get to the hoop and finish whenever he wants and happens to be the best defender 1-5 in the league.

I'm not opposed to Simmons.

I don't want him here if he doesn't want to be here though.

Yeah, if he's some petulant guy that thinks he's a superstar after what just went down and isn't humble enough to want to play anywhere that wants him and has a superstar for him to play with... then I don't want him either. I just haven't seen or heard anything that would lead me to believe that.

Simmons needs a teammate like Dame and a coach like Chauncey would be great for him too.

we just saw what a curry + green duo can be in GS: A play in team that couldn't make the playoffs.

why would we build a team around dame + green thinking it would be better?
We would have Powell, Nurk, and Roco in the starting lineup with them, which is worlds better than the Oubre/Wiggins/Wiseman troika that Curry and Green played with last year. As mentioned, Green wouldn't be the 2nd or even 3rd option in Portland. He would be a defensive anchor (honestly, would there be a better defensive frontline in the league than RoCo/Green/Nurk?), a secondary creator/facilitator, and an occasional shooter.

And most importantly, a better fit in the lineup with Dame than CJ, and would likely make Dame happy.

I wouldn't say world's better. I think that's pretty close actually. Don't get me wrong, I understand all the different ways Draymond impacts winning, but for this roster, I don't think we can afford to trade CJ for him unless we also get another decent scorer/shooter in return

Green is a shitty second option. He was a pretty good third option but really excelled as a fourth option. That's who we're talking about here. He's not big, he's not athletic, he just has some length and a really high basketball IQ on both ends.
Green wouldn't be the 2nd option. Who said that? Nurk would be the second option, followed by Norm. But Green is a fantastic defender & facilitator. And would round out a great starting 5.

Dame was actually Draymond's first guest on his show last year.

"It's important for me to win a championship here."

"Look at Dirk. That's the person I look at and be like 'it's worth it."

"If we can build a team here... why not here? We haven't won one since 77."

"If I can have ONE like that.."

I agree with your post, and also agree with the implication that Dame would readily accept CJ being traded if it created a more competitive team

but as much as I love Dame and will defend him against all the slings and arrows, I do think Portland has to be cautious about twisting their off-season into just making Dame happy. To start with, one single trade, even if it's CJ for a player like Simmons or Green is very unlikely to elevate Portland into immediate contention. I think it will take 2 or 3 significant moves. It will be a process rather than finding magic beans in one trade

unfortunately, it needs to be a pretty urgent process and we have seen no hints at all that is what the front office is operating under

Hopefully Gianni winning one makes him feel that too. Probably makes him want it more.

Sad I don't see Olshey willing to make it happen.

Another one. I hate that wiggins contract, but he is a 25 yr old who puts up ~20/game on decent shooting while playing OK defense. Philly prolly would balk at Matisse being included so I threw them Poole. Maybe add picks to Philly from our end. They would have a nasty lineup, though (CJ-Green-Simmons-Roco-Embiid).

Could we just cut GSW out of that altogether and deal CJ/Cov/Ant for Harris/Curry/Thybulle?

Kinda feels like PHI is getting shafted in that deal. Not to mention that they don't get Dame, so Morey would likely not be interested...

I'd want Ben for that package. I thought uniting the Curry bros would entice GS.

Listening to the Jason Smith Show tonight while delivering, Rick Bucher was the a guest, and was asked how he felt about the Green/Durant Podcast stirring up heat with the Warriors GM & Steve Kerr. That maybe it could lead to a trade. And why would Draymond do this now, 3 years later. Bucher responded, well At the Olympics he built a nice friendship with one Damian Lillard, and maybe it's time to join him. We know that happened with LeBron & Wade. Pretty cool to hear a top notch basketball reporter mentioning that idea. I've been hoping for that to happen, and i'm pretty sure, Dame wouldn't mind that happening.
Got a link?

Brings in the Dame stuff around the 8 min mark, and mentions Draymond with Dame & CJ.

It's tough to envision a deal that makes sense with Portland hanging on to CJ.
Agreed. Would have to send Nurk out and I don't see GS being interested in him.

Can't get any clue on KP's trade value either. Sometimes I feel like Cuban would dump him for any starter level player.

Curious why you think that.... Can you expound?
just a gut feeling....year before last I heard Cuban on a sports show comment on how he liked CJ's play. The other reason is I think Dallas needs another combo guard type that can flat out score and also takes some pressure off Doncic from handling the ball so much. Salaries match. Just a wild ass hunch.

Disagree. Maybe pre-injury Poor Ol' Zingus.
He's still a big injuiry risk, and not a fit with Nurk, so I don't like a straight swap, but KP last year put up a career high PER, TS%, TRB%, WS/48, BPM.
I think his defense has definitely seen better days, however. Although he's still a slightly better shot blocker than Nurk.

No they're not. You really want Porzingis on our team to prove it? Or are you trolling?
Take off your homer glasses.

Last year, both players statistically had their best seasons. Without looking, tell me which player is which:
  • Player A Player B
  • PER 20.8 21.3
  • TS% 0.577 0.582
  • 3p% 0.402 0.376
  • PTS/100 33.1 32.1
  • WS/48 0.141 0.154
  • ORtg 120 117
  • DRtg 118 110

Neither one is legitimately an all-star talent. Both are good-but not great.

Since LMA we haven't had a legit power forward that can average 19 ppg, 9rb's, 2 blks per game
It would be a gamble, but in an instant we change our front line and we do have other guards to pick up the slack for CJ's scoring.
I've seen him give Davis problems.

He's no longer a PF, really.
