With the Harkless signing, it's fair to say our summer is over. We have a log jam of players, a trade is likely in the near future. What would you like to see?

I want a legit power forward. I don't think Millsap is on the table at this point, and actually, with him being a free agent next summer, I don't think I want him anyway. That dude is going to get GROSSLY overpaid.

Trade Aminu, Crabbe, Davis, and Plumlee. Swap out Vonleh/Ezeli for Davis/Plumlee if necessary. But I just don't see us signing Plumlee next summer, so...

Try to acquire DMC with ^^^ combo. Fall-back option would be Okafor.

Keep this in mind.

Crabbe, Turner, and Ezeli are only restricted until December. Only FA's signed using exceptions (Meyers and Harkless) are restricted until January. Layman and Quarterman are restricted for two months (I believe).

Thank you for that correction.

My high hopes trade wish would be:

Portland: DeMarcus Cousins

Sacramento: Kevin Love, Portland 2017 1st round pick, rights to Cedi Osman

Cleveland: Mason Plumlee, Al-farouq Aminu, Noah Vonleh

Dame
CJ / Crabbe
Turner / Harkless-Layman
Davis-Harkless / Vonleh
Cousins / Ezeli-Leonard

That's a nasty lineup.

Cleveland would just cut us out and trade Love for DMC.

We need to convince Sac to take Crabbe/Vonleh/Plumlee + two firsts for DMC.

Dame
CJ
Turner
Aminu
Cousins

With Harkless/Davis/Leonard/Layman off the bench. Or you start Harkless and bring Turner off the bench at both guard positions. Use Aminu as the starting four and backup three.

Paul George is better than DMC, even though DMC is really really good

I agree, but how the team is constructed, I think DMC would make a bigger impact and push us further. Add PA and we still lack that impact in the paint regardless of Ezili.

I think it might have to be a player out of left field or a player who might not be thought of a star currently.

At the moment, Cousins is on everyone's radar, and Sacramento knows that. I'm not sure we could compete with an offer from, say, Boston.

Looking ahead, which team projected to compete could fall off? Which player's value was once high but has dropped off slightly?

I'd love to land a player of Cousins' caliber, but I think we may have to start reeling in those expectations to a player of Brook Lopez or Nikola Vucevic's caliber.

I do agree with this.

The thing is I want to keep most of our players. I think they will improve to be key. The key is WHICH ones. Im still high on Vonleh and Davis.

There are plenty of unrealistic targets, LeBron chief among them.
For Portland to have a shot at a star-level player, he would have to:
1. Be on a team that is not a contender
2. Be about to be a FA next year, so the team risks losing him for nothing and may panic
3. Have a GM who's a bit simple, because realistically we can't offer as much as teams like Boston OR
3= Be a player undervalued by other teams.

Possible targets:
Millsap, if he doesn't get on with Dwight Howard.
Kevin Love, if LeBron tires of him.
Blake Griffin ?
My Dark Horse candidate: Danilo Gallinari. He's an injury risk, but at his best he's a rich man's Chandler Parsons, and he fits the mold of tall + good passer + good shooter that's all the rage these days.
Another possibility: Nikola Mirotic. Just wish both he and Gallinari were better defenders.

Chicago is insulted by that deal. *click*

Gallinari is not better than Parsons. I like Mitotic but that's just more role players do what's the point?

I think Cousins might force his way out this year or SAC will realize that he'll leave in FA in a couple years and that they won't make noise if they keep him. In that scenario, trading him sooner would be best for getting back value.

I personally would target Kevin Love.

1) He's from Portland and I think he would stay here.

2) He's perfect for Stotts' system.

3) He was, at one time, considered the best PF in the game. I think he could return to that status if given the chance.

4) I think he could be had without giving up CJ.
