LOL what's kinda funny is I actually think New York would do this deal.

Wallace, Felton, Matthews for Melo

The shitty part would be we don't have a good PG: So it's basically Crawford and Smith playing point.

I think the starting line-up would be: Crawford, Batum, Melo, Aldridge and Camby.

Bench is: Smith, E. Will, Babbit (ugg), Rhino and Thomas.

I'd probably actually start Nolan, and have Crawford still come off the bench. I'm not a huge Carmleo fan, but he would give us a great closer, and would make it a little easier, I think, to not have a good PG. That is an ugly bench, mainly because it probably gives Babbitt minutes, yuck.
I'd probably do it though.

Yeah it's really tempting. I think the thing we lack the most is a 4th quarter closer. Aldridge just can't get it done. Melo, Batum and Aldridge is a nice trio, IMO.

Yeah the only "Yuck" thing about this deal would be Babbit getting more minutes. Although Melo is a 37+ minute player; so it won't be that bad. We could easily move Batum at 3 when we bring Crawford in.

Also, Melo doesn't have a choice either. He is locked for another 3 years.

I never want to see Melo in a Trail Blazer uniform. He doesnt care about winning and has no clue what the word "team" is. He plays at about 70% most of the game... 40% on defense.

Well what we are lacking is a 4th quarter closer. I think Melo fits that mold easily. Also, he doesn't have to play as much D; IMO. That's what we have Batum, Camby and Aldridge for. And if Oden does come back; then we have another defensive anchor.

You may dislike his attitude; but the dude is a scoring machine. I think that's exactly what we need; especially on the road.

Think about what the Knicks would get back in return too. They would have the PG that D'Antoni liked, Matthews (Defensive SG), Wallace (defensive SF and hustle guy).

Their starting line-up would look good: Felton, Matthews, Wallace, Amare and Chandler.

How so? Attitude? Would you care to explain?

It's a team and he seems more like he is oriented to the individual. Just listening to him I don't get the feeling that he really understands what his teammates in NY are thinking; I don't think he knows how to adapt. Blazers are hardworking guys, don't get the impression that he is. Most Blazers seem to be trying to always improve, don't get the impression that he is.

I understand the theory that the Blazers need one guy like this; but even a really nice guy like Roy seemed to hold back the talent development of others. I would rather see one of the current players learn to step up and be that guy in the clutch. And if none of them do? Hmm... it just seems there must be someone else out there who could be clutch and also fit better into what the Blazers are.

You got very valid points about him being a "team" player. But you also saying there could be other players that can help close the 4th. I know there are; but no way you obtain them unless you give up way more. This would be the perfect time to get a player at melo's caliber. New York isn't doing well. They are a team that could take on more contracts too.

Kinda funny how you want Melo in this thread and Nash in another. Such opposites on and off the court.

I want a 4th quarter closer. I'm tired of seeing our team lose in the 4th. Nash, Melo and Ellis all can fit that void. They all have range, can create their own shot and take over the 4th. In a perfect world; I would rather have Nash; that is of course he can play another 3 years after this season.

The one thing good about Melo is he's locked in for another 3 years. Nothing he can do to force us to trade him; unless he accepts being fined.

That trade isn't going to sell tickets in New York.

Your probably right unless they start winning. Do you think that trade makes them a better team? Personally I think it does; but fans will riot! Lol

It might make them better (maybe?) but since when does James Dolan do the smart thing? For chrissakes, he still counts Isiah Thomas as one of his closest advisers when it comes to basketball related matters.

If Melo and Amare don't work together, what makes you think Melo and LA would work? LA needs the ball in his hands to have an impact. Amare is a far better P&R player, but he can't seem to mesh with Melo.

Ultimately Melo is a very talented scorer, but he's a total ball-stopper on offense. Denver has mostly been better without him.

Yeah, Don't get me wrong I love Carmelo Anthony... When he's on my Fantasy basketball Team. The guy isn't a winner though. He doesn't play unselfishly. Looking at denver this season you can easily see what not having a carmelo anthony can do for your team and meanwile NY is 8 and 13. I like your effort on looking for trades that and it did get me thinking a little bit. If you look at what happened with denver. It goes against what most people think, you need a big 3, You gotta have star power and what not. What if we traded Aldridge for something like what denver got? Since mags likes to do trade scenarios, maybe he could find a good one if we gave up star power instead of brought it in?

Melo is a blackhole on offense. This is one of the main reasons Durant is a better scorer.

Melo is a on ball scorer.

Durant is an off ball scorer, leads to higher efficiency and less hero ball.

You don't need star power to win in the regular season, you need it to win in the playoffs though. do you really see this denver team going anywhere in the postseason?

We'll find out, but I don't see why not? They're playing well, they have a lot of nice pieces, and they have good coach. The only thing they lack is star power.
