In any trade scenario, if we want to trade money out but the team doesn't want money back (i.e. CLE if they trade Love), we could trade Meyers to ATL and take back Miles Plumlee with the TPE. Could even give Atlanta more salary if the wanted. But that's at least $10M outgoing (since Plumlee basically doesnt count as incoming salary) that wouldn't be going to whoever was our main trade partner.

Portland didn't play their best... but what CAUSED that? The physicality and intensity of the Pels. Stott's teams are soft, and they are going to remain soft as long as he's at the helm.

Here is the biggest problem I'm having with trading CJ--who for? I did a quick search of guards with six seasons or less, who are 6'4" or taller, with defensive ratings (I know it isn't perfect, but it does provide information) below 110 with 3pt% 33 or above (for the last two seasons). Here is the list:


Who is really obtainable on that list? Hood, maybe, but would we trade with Utah? Doubtful. Bazemore has been brought up before. We already have Baldwin.

Hood plays in Cleveland now.

Conversely, if you win 48 games in the regular season and make it to the NBA finals (even if you lose) fans will always remember that season.

You might be right. It depends on how much faith you have that a different coach would help he and Dame do a better job on defense than they did against NO in the playoffs. And, how long are you willing to experiment with Dame and CJ (after two post-season failures) before you change things up. Some people might want to ride it out until 2020 or later. I wouldn't dump CJ for a bag of chips, but I have seen enough that I would look to see if there was a better deal that would place at least one good defender in our backcourt.

The championship was won in 1977 ('76-'77 season).
We were on our way to a 60 game winning season in the '77-'78 season.
I believe we had a 63 win season in the early 90s. But that is not a record. I believe the Bulls hold second place at somewhere around 68 wins.

Seriously, how much more does Neil need to see... 2 undersized ballhog combo gaurds playing ISO ball, DEAD LAST IN NBA IN ASSISTS.. too small to get shots off in playoffs... this is what you want as the centerpiece of your team... making 50% of salary cap... taking 50% of shots... come on Neil! Dame and CJ will be 28 and 27 years old... they are what they are. Meanwhile other teams with star players in their early 20’s will only get better. This team will go nowhere with Dame/CJ combo... no matter who you put around them, the will not touch ball enough on offense consistently to matter
