Trading our pick at #6

It'll be like that Costner movie "Draft Day". Cronin will be calling up Kevin Pritchard asking him what he knows about Holmgren and why he's dropping, then he'll panic and trade out of the pick.

Depends? Is 6 still the lottery?
In the sense that the top 14 picks are usually considered the lottery, yes. As far as the picks that you can win through the lottery drawing, no. That's picks 1-4.

If the Lakers blew it up, I'd gladly trade that pick and a package of players for AD, even with his injury history. John Collins would be a good get. Siakam? Maybe. Sabonis?? There just aren't many good options out there at PF.

For #6, even with a package of our nothing players? Really? We're going to get AD, John Collins, or Siakam?

He’s a 7” big. He’ll just get injured in the first 15-20 games if he’s drafted by the Blazers.
Yeah, if we were at 6 and he dropped to us, I would imagine there would be teams that would want him there and we could likely get something that fit us better, I would want that. That being said, a lot of smart basketball people are very high on him and maybe whoever is our decision maker at the time will be as well and then we'll just have to hope that he's really great and healthy.

If it’s in the lottery, it’s too high

AD or Siakam, you're totally right but Collins is a player that has competition for his position on his team, supposedly isn't on great terms with them, and has a long contract ascending from 23M. The dude hasn't been close to an all star but does have some promising skills and athleticism. Collins could be had for salary cap relief and less than the #6 pick. The other two are all nba players and both have been the second best player on a championship team. So good job with the reality check on AD and Siakam but terrible job putting Collins with them. We could easily get Collins for the 6 pick and Bledsoe and would be overpaying.

And what if No. 6 moves up to 1 or 2 in the lottery? Suddenly, trading a couple of “nothing” players like Simons and Little in a package with that pick sounds like a pretty big haul for a perpetually injured guy like AD.

It always frosts me when people feel the need to chime in as the “realist”.

Scenario: we jump to #3

We lose out on the two franchise prospects: Jabari and Chet…

I’d offer that #3 pick and other assets to Orlando for Franz Wagner. Just to see if they bite - they are the Eastern Conference Sacramento Kings after all.

Trading out of the #6 is missed opportunity for high return at a low cost.

A slightly falling Holmgren (who is not a center … not even a Zach Collins PF/C … so no curse need apply) is a “take the win” at 6 and smile scenario. Portland is a great place for food and drink. Even KD got stronger and put on enough.

Sharpe? Wild card. Star? Does he have “it”???
Murray? I’d be satisfied with that floor at 6 (not overwhelmed with the floor but IMHO he will be MUCH better than that).

Sharpe and/or Murray is at 6 or a presumptive top 4 fell (Holmgren). There are few young veterans who are “gettable” and fit Blazers needs and who have growth potential and …

Wagner? Don't know much about him. Doesn't seem like much of a rebounder for 6'10". What's his defense like?

LMAO You don't trade out of Banchero to get Franz.

I like Banchero but he’s really no different than Julius Randle. This is a two-player draft - there’s a dropoff outside Chet and Jabari with Sharpe as the dark horse.

You may or may not be right. I think not. Banchero is already ahead of Randle offensively, which is Randle's biggest problem. I'd rather roll the dice on Paolo than Franz and trade out if it doesn't work. Franz is nice, but you don't trade the #3 pick in the draft for him.

Lol @ dropoff outside Chet and Jabari when most professional scouts think the two players with the best chance at becoming superstars are neither of those players.

(Sharpe and Banchero).

you could be right tho.
