Trail Blazers acquire 34th overall pick from G.State

Those are the guys they analyze in places like NJ.

Good point. I seem to remember Bayless never working out here.

But, it does sorta give some indication, especially if you consider the complete lack of higher ranked players. We had a similar first round pick last year, and I remember guys ranked in our range working out in POR (Claver, Collison, Casspi, etc).

Anyone think this might be pre-emptive on the Blazers' part?....there are a bunch of division rivals (OKC and MIN) that have multiple picks, and by (artificially?) pumping the cost of moving 10 spots up to 2M, it removes the chance that OKC or MIN will be able to sell off their excess picks to anyone besides us?

Not only that, but Nate thinks Blakey works better with Roy, so he brings Paul off the bench.
Come on maxie, take a deep breath and step away from the media insanity. Lets just call it what it is a first step, more to come

Heh, I read on another board that 20 years ago, KP was drafted by GSW with the 34th pick.

Weird.

Weird.

So, as KP knows he's getting dumped, he convinces PA to throw out $2 million in cash, for a sentimental piece of KP's history. PA, you've been duped!! KP gets the last laugh, BWAHAHAH!!

That's funny. That's the same sound your wife makes in this one possition. :D

All kidding aside, I think most think that. Do you have any knowledge of anything?
I do and can NOT comment.

Alabi? The guy is 7'1"

They want to trade up for a center (of the future?) as insurance when we trade Oden to the Hornets?

This move was just the start in the Blazers attempt to acquire LeBron. Step one show him we have a owner that is willing to throw money away on a second rounder. Makes perfect sense.

Miami's #18 pick is available.

ESPN Insider
Just like the Bulls, the Heat are also looking to clear some more cap space to make a run at free agents come July 1.
If the Heat can find a suitor, Michael Beasley will likely be traded for cap space.
But beyond that, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports the Heat are also looking to ditch their first-round pick (No. 18) in an effort to clear even more space.
He writes: "The Miami Heat's draft pick at No. 18 is available, league sources say. 'They want to sell it to clear cap space,' one Western Conference executive said."
Luckily for the Heat, there are a few teams looking to snag a pick in the first round. We reported earlier Tuesday that the Mavs are looking to move into the middle part of the first round, so they could be a potential team that could take the pick off Miami's hands.
The Cavs could also buy a pick in the first round

From ESPN Insider

The Golden State Warriors agreed to move from No. 34 in the draft order to No. 44 for two reasons. First, the Blazers reportedly gave them $2 million to move up 10 spots in the draft and second, the Warriors think players who they signed out of the D-League this past season are better then anyone they'd get with the No. 34 pick.
"I think you can get as good a player in the D-League as you can most second-round picks," Warriors head coach Don Nelson told The Oakland Tribune. "There are some exceptions to the rule. But generally speaking, in the D-League there are second-rounders that have developed."

I think the $$ is wrong. Hasnt our local media reported that it was $1 million? I highly doubt we'd fork over $2 million to move up 10 spots in the 2nd round!

I don't think moving up 10 spots is worth $2 million, so it makes me really happy that we did it. It seems to indicate that Paul is willing to spend whatever it takes to improve, and that's a very good thing.

Ford's take..suffice it to say that he's not the hugest fan of LMA

34. Portland Trail Blazers (via Golden State)

Trevor Booker | PF | Clemson
The Blazers paid $2 million and swapped the 44th pick for No. 34, so they better get something good. Booker is the type of physical enforcer that the Blazers could use when LaMarcus Aldridge is squeezing the Charmin.
