Ezeli had a physical with Blazer team doctors before he signed with the team, this procedure could have been a recommendation by the doctors to the team.
Then why didn't they recommend that he do it about six weeks ago?

So we have a center with knee problems. Not exactly a new experience in Rip City. I have no idea as to how serious Ezeli's knee issues are, but this is hardly another Oden scenario. He's a good player who can help the Blazers if he is healthy enough to contribute 15 to 20 minutes a night, but he's not coming here as a core piece to the Blazers' future. We have him on a reasonable contract and are only committed to 2 years. We have plenty of depth at center to cover for him if he misses games. I hope this injection helps him have a productive year, but I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Team option for season 2, no?

I'm pretty sure 99% of us knew the knee problems were real when we signed him for as little as we did.

I'm sure some will say they didn't, but they did - they just didn't want to believe the knees were shot.

I've been waiting for this news from the day we signed him.

This actually sounds like a positive thing to me. Guys who get this treatment seem able to return to competitive sports.

The Knicks signed Joakim Noah, knee issues and all, to 4 years/$72M.

And Mozgov got a ridic deal. Knee issues and all, I'd rather have Festus for Mozgov's deal than Mozgov. So, it's still a steal.

He is out 6 weeks and project 1st to 2nd week of October to start training with the team. In mean team he be going through grueling rehab that might get him in some type of shape.

Yeah. His summer workout photos showed him in piss-poor fat boy HCP-style shape.

For real, though, I wouldn't step to Festus.

I had a similar stem cell procedure, which is what this is (from bone marrow), in my left knee about 2 yrs ago. I did not have major problems but had weakened the knee in a ski accident, the results for me were excellent over time - pain gradually went away and function improved. And I abuse my knee

This isn't really a big deal. We all knew this already

Olshey was able to sign Ezeli at a steep discount b/c of known knee problems and, in the long term, his contract will have no impact on the team. They knew very well that he’s a high-reward, low-risk prospect who the team is likely just hoping to get some solid rotation minutes out of for 60 or so games a year and are planning accordingly.

That’s very differnet from Walton/Bowie/Oden who were expected to be all-stars and who had entire teams built around their potential.

Nothing that happens to Festus this year can turn his signing into a mistake for the Blazers. I ain't even trippin
Nice work tunch. Most rational and cognizant post in this thread.

Let's relive this in order.

1. Oden microfracture....NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!FUCK THE WORLD I'LL KILL KITTENS IF I SEE THEM.

2. Find out Brandon is a cripple....NO, YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME THIS ISN'T REAL.

3. Ezeli gets some injection...Hmm

You seem to have forgotten Bowie though his tibias were mostly to blame and Sabonis...he brought knee pads back in style...or did he?

Where did you have it done? I could sure use one!
