That's the only way I see this working out for the team-- biofreeze is probably the least known name of all the jersey sponsors in the league. They have 3000 followers on twitter lol.

It's pretty common. I've been involved first hand for another team. It just makes sense. If a company is going to invest a bunch of money in a team, why not spend a little more and sign a deal with one of the players.

The only sports that should have sponsors on their equipment are soccer and racing.

Soccer because they don't have commercial breaks and racing because the cars and motorcycles are so fucking expensive that they need sponsors to exist.

Basketball does not need sponsors on their jerseys. They have commercial breaks every 20 seconds. It's bullshit. It's greedy. It shows complete disregard for the tradition of the sport. I will not support it.
