Ben Golliver said:
Earlier this summer, Greg Oden made a similar "Contract Year" declaration, which was particularly grating and ill-advised given his performance relative to expectations up to this point and the absolute certainty that the Blazers will pick up his team option for 2010-2011 even if he were to play 0 games this season.

Good call. He not only was all over Outlaw's tweet, he re-caught feelings about Oden.

Actually he seems perfectly fine with Travis's quest for a big year to earn more money with this comment at the end:

If Mars Money turns out to be his number one priority, and I wouldn't blame him for that at all

but is still angry and catching feelings over Greg's comments (which we don't know if he made on his own or was mentioned to him by the interviewer to get a reactionary comment) over a month later. Of course this is no surprise considering Ben's obsession with Kevin Durant (he has a KD Blazers jersey IIRC, and KD shoes in Blazer colors) and since he ran the draftkevindurant.blogspot counter to the draftgregoden.blogspot thing.

There is great humor in this because Ben went ballistic on Oden during training camp/pre-season last year when Greg was irritated by Jason Quick calling him (Oden) underwhelming. Ben accused Oden of catching feelings, not manning up, and not realizing how professional basketball works in like this two thousand word post where he mentioned how Kevin Durant was a real professional during his awful season in Seattle (because this had correlation apparently) and how he met Durant etc.

It's just great seeing Ben's obsession with Durant cause him to have these unreasonable reactions to things Oden does and says.

but is still angry and catching feelings over Greg's comments WHAT COMMENTS????

Sebastian, do you post over there? If so, you should call him out. It would be interesting to see what he says.

Greg last month in an interview with, IIRC, a local Ohio or Buffalo paper mentioned his motivations for next season and had a passing comment on it being a contract year. I'm not sure if he made that comment on his own or if the author of the article pointed it out and he responded with "And it's a contract year" which was his quote in the article.

Ben mentioned it in one of his Full Press articles where he links to Blazer related stories and had some passive aggressive comments about Greg which I humorously (at least to myself) equate with Ben catching feelings over pretty much anything Greg does that Ben does not approve.

And yes yuyuza I post at BE and have made passing comments pointing out the humor in his feelings towards Greg in the past.

DOES BEN HAVE A LIFE?? CHILD PLEASE

I usually follow comments from his twitter account. Here's the quote in question regarding Greg:
"It's one of those seasons where I have to prove myself. You go through your rookie season and most rookies by the end of it are where they want to be," he said, explaining that because of his initial knee surgery he considers his second season to be his rookie season. "By the time I was getting there, I got that second knee injury right before the All-Star break and never got back to where I was. So this next season is to show what I can do.

"And it's also a contract year."

Tweets: I think the dude is cuckoo for Bayless and Durant. Too bad OKC never fulfilled that fantasy for Ben after all those rumors prior to last year's draft of Presti being hot for Jerryd.

# here's a full list of things that should motivate greg oden: 1. salvaging his reputation as a basketball player 2. that's it.2:12 PM Aug 3rd from UberTwitter

using contract year as motivation is ALWAYS red flag because not every year is a contract year.big time players bring it every year, period.1:40 PM Aug 3rd from UberTwitter

PLEASE TAKE BAYLESS FOR A KITKAT BAR

wow.. a 500 word essay over a 140 character tweet.

what if he were to tweet "The Lakers are my favorite team in the nba" that isn't nearly 140 characters, but would clearly spawn more than a 500 word essay

Is this the real Travis Outlaw? Twitter is full of people pretending to be celebrities and athletes.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure. I'm surprised we haven't seen a fake Steve Blake twitter account trashing Miller.

Hmmm... Uhh I got some stuff I got to do guys... DEFINITELY NOT SETTING UP A TWITTER ACCOUNT!!! :devilwink:

(edit) By the way, did you hear Blakey on Wheels at Work? He was very upbeat about just wanting to win, and not caring too much about playing time or money! I think he'll get along nicely with Miller!

LOL!! Oops, looks like I should have kept that evil thought to myself.

Latest tweet from Travis, "I'm motivationally inclined to succeed."
