Although Nate McMillan has said there will be an open competition at small forward in training camp, the prevailing theory -- and one McMillan has championed -- is that Martell Webster is better suited for the starting unit. Webster, who made a team-leading 123 three-pointers last season, spreads the floor with his outside shooting, which could be a huge weapon when opponents double-team Greg Oden and LaMarcus Aldridge.
Plus, as Travis Outlaw mentioned at lunch, he wants shots, and he doesn't figure many will be left on the starting unit after Brandon Roy, Aldridge and Oden are done taking their share.

"I don't want people to think I'm satisfied with coming off the bench all the time," Outlaw says. "I want to start ... I feel like I have earned it. But it makes sense for me to come off the bench."
