I was/am a fan. Not sure why they cut him, but if we get 3 players (forwards) back in a trade for Dame I am not sure it makes much difference. We would have needed to cut someone. If it is Miami, we would need room for JJjr, Jovic, and possibly Simmons.
 
There was a rumor (and only a rumor most likely) that Watford is the one that asked for his release because he didn't think the playing time would be there this year. Not sure I believe that but it is something.
 
If Trendon doesn't get a gig in the NBA he can always join the RipCityRemix

He was released when we were said to be interested in the guy from Europe who's 6'10. Joe kept 7'1 Butler and 7'1 Badji and let Eubanks and Watford walk..he said we needed to get bigger and looks like he's trying to do that. Watford could make a lot more money overseas than he was making on our bench.

When a player the level of Watford asks out, you do everything you can to accommodate him. He's played his whole career here and has been loyal the whole time, signing contracts and playing basketball to the best of his ability.

If Portland didn't do Watford a solid, NBA players and agents around the League would notice and Portland's franchise would never recover.

I'd say his agent had fielded some interest that might give him more rotation minutes. He might have requested to be let go.
 
The blazers want to tank this year's summer league and since he was the MVP of the last year, he had to go
 
Watto is going to feast on Walker & Murray. And that's OK because it will help the Blazers lottery odds.
 
Best wishes. He's an ascending player. I think he has a chance to not only stick, but have an active role off the bench for them.
 
I can't believe Cronin let future HOF caliber player, Trendon Watford walk! This is the kind of thing that caused Dame to order his agent to "honorably" destroy his own value, to honor his legacy of "loyalty".
