Notice Trent is a 2nd round sleeper

I watched him a few times this year and I was impressed with his ability to use his body and his shot. He is big enough to a decent defended and his maturity seems sound.
He reminds me of a very younger BRoy when he was is Seattle, the way he used his body for positioning and driving. Plus he had a super shot as well.
Im thinking he will be a pleasant surprise. Just my opinion.

Good question but with the recruiting class Duke has coming in this year, it's easy to see why he decided to declare now.

EDIT: I lied. They have #1, #2, #3, #17 and #39. Givony has Barrett, Reddish and Williamson slated to go #1, #3 and #7 in the draft next year.

Duke has great incoming class but 2 of them SF 1 power forward and I believe a point guard. I think Trent might started at Sg if he stay.

I want to give you a ton of credit for your optimism. That’s sincere too.
When I look at the Blazers and most of the league I’m having a hard time figuring out why they’re fielding teams, it’s gotta be the money because competitive basketball seems to be out of the picture. I’m sure my mood will get better and reading your posts help, so keep being optimistic!

I think he looks 6-6, so he can spot at SF, so I'm happy. But he's a 2nd round pick, so like Crabbe and Connaughton, Stotts won't play him this year, probably rightfully so. He seems to dribble better than Crabbe, not just catch and shoot.

How do the Blazers find so many guys who can’t seem to dribble a freaking basketball?
Aminu, Crabbe, Harkless, basically all there bigs. It’s good that Trent Jr does look to have some handles, but some of these guys start dribbling and instantly it’s like nooo don’t do that you’re bad at it...

Quick was interviewed today and he said the team plans to play Trent at point, 2 guard, and small forward in the Summer League, so we'll get to see those handles right away. I like what I saw from him in very limited cut-ups from today's practice. Doesn't look that stiff, good body language looking focused. To Olshey's credit, he traded up for Crabbe and that worked out, so maybe lightening strikes twice.

I never thought Crabbe was all that good on offense or defense. But as our only tall guard, he was useful to defend tall guards. Trent will need to learn defense fast, at least unless Olshey changes his basketball religion and gets a 6-7 guard (he won't). Baldwin IV (sponsored on this board by his professional agent Scalma) plays PG, so he won't see spot duty at forward. The mental transition is too hard during a game.

Who I believe he would be lottery next year the draft looks a little weak after the top 10 what I see but that could change but I don't think by much.

I know some fans will try to form a conclusion on Trent after a couple of summer league games, but remember Crabbe played 3 years at Cal before being drafted and he still struggled his first year. Not saying give him a free pass, but his shooting stats in summer league could be misleading. The extra distance from behind the arc can take some time to adjust. But we will be able to evaluate his ball handling skills.

One thing Trent has range so his adjustment to the 3 point will come pretty quick. The 2 things I will be watching is his handles and his mid range game in these summer league games.

I don't compare him with Crabbe at all 2 complete deferent players. Yea there stats are pretty close but I think Trent will be more aggressive then Crabbe was when he played here.

That free throw percentage is huge for Trent!
