Id be absolutely ok with that!I think Wes Matthews is his ceiling.
In a couple of years, when Olshey takes a bad stretch contract to get rid of Trent, who then immediately becomes the best player on a Big Apple team, half the board will whine, "Olshey had to! It was just a routine cap move! Stop trolling!"
Can I ask how you came to that conclusion? Not really disagreeing but one year he drafted guards one year he drafted bigs. He did pay ET and Crabbe a lot in the same summer. I think he struggles to balance his roster.Nah Olshey loves guards to a fault.

I'm sure you saw it but Christian Wood had something like 36 points and 23 rebounds the other day in a G-league game, pretty impressive.Trent’s numbers so far
4 games
31 PPG
50% FG
50% 3PT
5.3 RPG
1.3 APG
2.3 SPG
30.6 PER
He’s doing what a good player is supposed to do down there. By comparison, none of Crabbe, Barton, Layman, or McCollum were anywhere close to as productive in their stints in the g league, and they were all older as well.

Last year wasnt the arguement that after Napier we didnt have any other worthwhile guards to play? Because in the previous draft he took Biggie and Zach, he already Had Ed, Meyers and Noah and Nurk! And his own draft picks like Trent.
The board always said that we were strong at guard and weak at forward. Then in one month, Olshey pushed out Davis (and Papagiannis, a former mid-#1 like Baldwin and Stauskas), added Stauskas, Simons, and Trent, and kept Baldwin (I admit he subtracted Napier). You do the math.
I was reading up on what Bucks fans thought about Thon requesting a trade. It was almost universal that they like Wood but he provides very little defense and that's why he isn't playing more in the NBA.Someone on this board is a big fan of his and was pushing for Portland to sign him before he got his deal with Milwaukee. He can play. I’d take him over Biggie for sure.
This is great news, IMHO. Learning how to play defense without fouling is one of the things I want Simons to learn, and to not take for granted.Simons 15 minutes 4-10fg 1-1 3 pointer 3-3ft 2 rebs 1blk 5to 6pf 12 points.
Simons foul out with 6 minutes left in the game.
His biggest problem right now is his strength on the. defense side. Players are so much stronger then he use too. All those turnovers was off getting the ball stolen away from him. This is great news, IMHO. I am not saying he don't have talent I am saying he not strong enough yet. He probably 2 years away on strength to help us.What I like about him is the speed of the G league doesn't get to him. The plays he makes are at the same level of the guys he's playing. Strength can be gained from training, but to be that proficient at the pro game at such a young age shows talent.

I'm not sure spending an extended period in that league is beneficial anyway. The games are borderline unwatchable. It's just such bad basketball. Summer league looks better.Evidently (according to Holdahl) both will be back with the team this week. The plan was just a temporary stint. The Blazers didn’t hold any practices because of their busy schedule so those two went down to the g league to get playing time. Will be interesting to see what happens at the deadline. I hope they stick around, but they could also represent value in a trade. Both had successful stints down there.
