The Tri Nations have been pretty interesting this year. It's an expanded competition, and with one game left the winner is still undecided. That game is NZ vs. Aussie in Aussie. Australia are coming of a hiding by South Africa, but there is a lot of talk they didn't take that game seriously (53 - 8). New Zealand have improved a lot this season (well, you could argue a lot of that can be attributed to McCaw coming back from injury) and are favourites to take out the competition. Last game should be good to watch.

I haven't been able to watch because I lost Setanta Sports. In any case, it seems like this has been a great competition this year. What's your take on each country's improvements and downfalls (if any) since the 2007 World Cup?

I downloaded the second test between NZ and Australia (the one where they bounced back after losing the Bledisoe Cup). Other than that I haven't been able to catch the games.

I still wish Tana played with the team. I caught just about every single NZ international test game a couple years ago, and have the tri-nations, Lions tour, and europe tour on DVD.

Since the world cup

South Africa: Gone backwards. It's pretty hard to justify getting rid of a WC winning coach, especially when you replace him with Puppet De Villiers.
Australia: Gone forwards. Robbie Deans has got them playing like a team. They don't have all that much talent, but could win the Tri Nations tonight.
All Blacks: Gone backwards, but starting to go forward. Lost a lot of talent, but they are improving and most importantly winning lately.

Sounds about right. It's meant to start at 10:00PM NZ time, and it's 6:40 PM here now. So a little over three hours away is kick off.

Ali Williams needs to buy Piri Weepu a beer after the game. His soil of a pass killed the momentum they had. It's absolutely amazing that the AB's were able to get back into position in 4 phases.
