The 76ers placed a claim on forward Thomas Robinson on Tuesday, sources told Yahoo Sports.
Robinson has been on waivers and was expected to sign a 10-day contract with the Nets, but he will soon be a member of the 76ers, according to the report.
Will he? Don't be silly, the weather's too chilly in Philly, especially for Schilly.I really hope Philly picks him up because he'll start on that team. Shilly with the Philly but the question is will he?
Goes for it? You mean accepts? I thought when you are claimed off waivers, you don't have a choice?Well there should be playing time to be had on PHI roster if TRob goes for it.
In this case goes for it as in puts forth the effort.Goes for it? You mean accepts? I thought when you are claimed off waivers, you don't have a choice?
Actually Philly could've achieved that buy splitting the amount in bonus form to it's current players but they opted to sign TRob for the rest of the season. The only reason Philly took him was to clear the min cap restrictions set in place through the CBA. They might take him and buy him out so they are covered.
The Sixers needed the sum of Robinson's remaining salary to honor the obligations of the collective bargaining agreement that dictate a team needs to reach within 90 percent of the NBA's salary floor before season's end - or pay out that shortfall amount equally among the rest of the players on the roster.
Robinson's $3,678,360 salary pushes the Sixers over the salary floor. Denver is no longer responsible for paying Robinson's salary. After meeting the cap obligations they could then waive him and he would then be allowed to sign with Brooklyn or whomever he chooses.

Okay here is where i got it. Probably should have put this up there from the beginning but i figured you had all read the same thing.Wrong
I feel bad for T-Rob... Thought he was going to a potential playoff team in BKN, ends up having to go to Philly of all places. I hope he likes cheesesteaks because that's as good as its gonna get for him as a Sixer. Hell, that is the only thing that's good for any Sixer right now.

It seems from that, that they had the choice, and either option would have satisfied the collective bargaining agreement.Okay here is where i got it. Probably should have put this up there from the beginning but i figured you had all read the same thing.

That's what I thought, too. If the money is the same to the organization either way, why not at least throw a little "thank you for playing for our sucky ass team" money to your players? Asshats. How pissed would their players be if they could have split $3+ million dollars among them, but management decided to sign a guy for $3.6million, then cut him and pay him instead.
