Schneider isn't even signed yet. He was only in Hartford temporarily on an amateur tryout arrangement while his league was still suspended. He is now back in juniors. He's 19 years old, not 21 like K'Andre, and it would be idiotic to burn an ELC year right now when he is not ready and the team is awful. I know he's the shiny new toy, but let it go. His time will come.

On another note, saying "thank god" in response to anybody's injury is about as low as it gets.

He along with several vets should have been scratched many games ago. I never said in my post I was glad he was hurt. You assumed like all asswipe, oversensitive liberals do. I'm happy he's not playing because he is shit. Schneider will only go back to juniors if they actually play juniors. To my knowledge, I don't see that yet. Anybody who has watched the games with their eyes open can see Miller as a rookie has been bailing cluster fuck Trouba out all season which is a disgrace. Pionk who was asked to do way too much here and was a fan base whipping boy at a young age has 12 points in 15 games this season playing over 22 minutes a game and is a plus player. I dared to believe in Trouba when he came here. For the money he's total shit.

JD and Gorton have had an embarrassing year so far. Bringing in Johnson who is shit. A bunch of role players who weren't needed. Signing shitty Strome. Now, not firing Quinn yet who clearly has lost this team. Not trading for a big center with a stacked farm.

Burning a year of elig on an ELC (that as Prodigy pointed out doesn't even exist yet) would be a horrible move.
In fairness, one could assume dump wasn't happy for the injury, just that he is benched. Now only if Kreider (the actual player) would get benched.

It's been tough. I had high hopes for this team, maybe not in the Win/Loss column but at least to see some strides forward and some gelling. K'Andre and Fox have been about the only things to look forward to, and if Fox is going to be our best defenseman and play 25 mins a night we are never going to win a playoff series.

Too many of the big guns are playing below expectations, and too many of the young kids are not showing the strides we expected. Now without Trouba we are cooked. He has been very average this year, and I have been (and remain) one of his biggest supporters. But he plays some tough minutes, and without him either Fox will be put in more defensive situations which will cut into his offensive production or Brendan Smith is going to shift to the right and be our matchup right side D. Either way, it is bad. Trouba is a huge loss for how this team is assembled.

I think in the next 2 weeks our clueless college coach will be canned and they will bring up the Pack coach if JD and Gorton have any idea what the hell they are doing this year.

I suspected I was going to hate that Trouba trade and now it looks like it's coming true. However, before I totally right him off I have to see him with a real coach. Quinn ain't it. The team has had at least 6 to 10 absurd, fluke deflections go in against them this year. Two last night. Forwards have been snake bit a little. However, the coach to me has lost the team. It's clear the vets don't respect him. Nor should they. They play like crap and never get scratched for it. If Keenan had this team Trouba, Buchnevich, Kreider, Strome, Zibanejad and Panarin all would have probably been scratched at least one game. Maybe more. Keenean had his faults but holding all players accountable was not one of them.

I've been a Quinn supporter but i think if the team has a really poor next month or two, injuries or not, then they may look to make a change.

He is struggling badly this year (as is almost every vet we have) but Trouba showed the value he can bring in that play-in series last year. That was playoff hockey, and he showed up for it. Hes going to be an important piece going forward - if we had Pionk and Fox down the right we would get run over. But right now, I cant defend that contract. Liked it at the time, does not look great right now. Hope he can turn it around once he gets healthy.

I really think we need to view Trouba for what he is. He is not going to be the stud 1st pair RD. He is going to be a a real solid 2nd pair RD, that will hit and be physical. He won't score 40 points, he might not even reach 30, but there is good value in the player he is. I just think some expected this stud top 10 dman, and he is paid better than what he is. To me that skews how he's viewed.

With him out now against some of the bigger physical teams in our division, this is starting to feel like a lost season. Chytil out a while, Trouba out a while, no camp for a young team, Z gets Covid, some other injuries. Just seems to me getting another top 5-7 pick won't be the worst thing now. Get rid of a TON of dead cap space this summer (and Smith, Johnson, DeAngelo). Add a legit # 2 C. Add another kid for the 3rd pair on D (Lundkvist or Schneider maybe). And away we go next season ready to take a huge step up.

Now yes other teams have Covid, and injuries, and no camp etc., but being so young and not having a lot of experienced leadership (and the vets struggling as well) is tough to overcome.

One thing I’ve noticed is that Hajek is an unbelievable skater. Wood Is one of the fastest skaters in the league in Hajek basically matched him with ease. Rangers are probably the best drafting team of and talent evaluators of young defenseman in the league. Their farm system with defenseman is an embarrassment of riches. I mean if I could get Lundkvist, Jones, Hajek and Georgiev for Larkin I can’t turn that down if I’m Detroit. I could build half my defense and get a goalie. For the Rangers I have to do it as well with Schneider and Robertson Coming and Reunanen here.

One thing I don’t understand with other general managers is not realizing that the Rangers have all these talented defenseman prospects and not all of them can play here. You would think that somebody out there would make a deal knowing the Rangers need a center and have that much depth with defenseman prospects.

I don't think they'll move Lundkvist unless it's absolutely necessary. With Trouba and Fox as the only RD there will be a spot basically waiting for him if he doesn't play badly in camp. I'd rather they trade Robertson if they have to include a high end D prospect. Teams will probably want Lundkvist I'm sure instead. Something like 2 1sts, Chytil and Robertson is a pretty solid package.

Remember, Schneider is a RD also. Not saying they'll move Lundkvist, just saying we have some potentially good depth on RD.

If Gorton doesn't deal for a top 6 C this offseason, it really would be him not doing his job. It has to be done. The one major area of weakness left on the team. The 3rd pair D we have answers coming in house. Top 6 C we simply do not.

Yeah, certainly Schneider too so that will eventually be interesting to see how that sorts out. I'm not thinking Schneider will be in the mix next year as he needs a full year of juniors/minors imo. He should be good to go the following year. Trouba could be bought out in another 2-3y if he's really underperforming.

Exactly the type of defenseman we haven't had for years. Trouba throws the open ice hit once or twice a year. Lindgren did it many times last year along the boards. Won't be long until Schneider and Robertson are here.

on defense when they signed him and he's done what he was paid to do. Leads the team in hits and 2nd behind Fox in blocked shots. Put him on a team with Stamkos if you want 50 points.
