Ride for the Constitution? Anyone heard of this? One of my classmates posted a link about it, and how the "mainstream media" was trying to debunk, falsely report, etc. Normally when I see reports about the "evil mainstream media" I think it's tinfoil hat time. But after seeing it pooh-poohed in multiple articles in the last few days (including an outright lie from the Washington post, using a fabricated photo from last year), and the following headlines online:
USA Today said, “Rain, not trucker protest, slows D.C.-area traffic“.
FOX News said, “Dozens, not thousands, show up for DC trucker protest.” Reason.com said, “Trucker D.C. Beltway Shutdown Plan a Hoax“.
Politico said, “Trucker Protest a Bust“.
and comparing it to live feeds, people trying to get the word out, etc...I wonder, is there something actually happening? Anyone else watching this? I mean, supposedly there are hundreds of people who took out all the memorial barriers and dumped them in front of the White House. That seems to me to be "newsworthy", but I only find it on these tinfoil sites.

Was watching CNN hoping for some sort of coverage and they got to it an hour later. They of course focused on the 10 foot segment of the protest at the Whitehouse with a Confederate flag, ignoring the rest.

Ground Reporter [GR]: The stack of barricades was quite high. A number of Vets carried them all the way from the memorials and dumped them in front of the gates.
News Room[NR]: So I see a Rebel [Confederate] Flag out there, is this a Tea Party thing?
[GR]: Well yes I've seen them out here, but there are a wide variety of flags and signs out here. It's a mixed and diverse crowd with a number of issues, but they all are unhappy with the President.
[NR]:So you'd say the Tea Party is involved with this?
[GR]: Like I said it's a diverse group of people out here...

You could totally tell how the NR was trying to drive the story. The guy on the ground looked pretty irritated.

Some of the live feeds here. Looks like more than just "dozens" of people out there.

It's been clear for some time the the free press no longer exists. The press is a necessary part of preserving our freedom and they've failed us. The traditional value of the free press was that they exposed abuses by citizens, corporations, politicians and other counties. Now that they fail to report, or participate in cover ups instead of exposing them....we're screwed. Especially in this age of 'pix or it didn't happen.'

Our press is no better than the press in the USSR that we all laughed at in the 60's and 70's.

i dunno. fox news seems pretty fair and balanced.

No green font? I actually agree, but I certainly realize that Fox leans right pretty hard.

That said, the OP shows the Fox report saying there were dozens. Unless the vids are fake, the Fox report is as pathetic as any left leaning source.

Yeah, no green font because I figured you did agree. Obviously, I don't.

And as blinded as I am, I still called Fox's report pathetic. Go figure.

Somehow, even Fox couldn't spin a bunch of truckers trying to cause a traffic jam in order to overthrow the president into a positive story.

what part of "restoring the Constitution" = "overthrowing the President" to you?

Everything about that video and it's participants was just sad.

Fair enough. I was just going off of what I saw on their website (which has since been taken down?) and it was about restoring the Constitution.

WBIR in DC sent a reporter out with one of the organizers:
“Truckers protesting the actions of President Obama and Congress continue to slowly circle the Capital Beltway on Friday. They say they are fed up with what many of them consider an abuse of the Constitution."

Hadn't seen your Fox News quote until now.

Yeah it's unfortunate that the press on the protest got hijacked (pun intended?) by the ramblings of Zeeda Andrews.

Didn't Glenn Beck or somenut say it would lead to a general strike of 100 million that would overthrow Obama?

Fizzle.
