TrueHoop: Did Roy say trade Miller or trade me?

My guess is that if they trade Miller to make Roy happy it won't fix anything. But at the same time, by giving him every benefit of the doubt, but if the Blazers do that, when it happens, and fails, then the Blazers can say they made every effort to help Roy before blowing it up and moving forward.

I don't think that sort of thinking should, or will, play any part of making a decision on Miller. Helping Roy shouldn't be the priority; helping the team win should be.

Cho stated he needs more time to evaluate the team. Rich, let me help you out. Your team is not a contender, and it will be lucky to even make the playoffs this year. I'd be surprised if it took you a few more weeks to figure this out. Knowing this, trade your most high-value assets, which include Miller and Przy (Batum as well, or hell, even Wesley Matthews if something worth it is out there). PG is a priority, preferably one that can shoot a little and defend a bit, as is PF. I'd say center, but with all of the injuries to centers around the league, the Camby model (rebounding and shot-blocking with little offense) is going to have to cut it unless Oden stays healthy and develops as an all-around center.

Good luck! You're going to need it...

In my dreams, but...

Roy: "Trade Miller or trade me."

Cho: "Why choose? I'll trade both of you."

Roy: "Wait what?"

Roy should just suck it up, let Miller run the team, and maybe squeak into the playoffs to get crushed in the first round.

That's what Miller does best as PG for playoff teams.

Thats what Roy does best as SG on playoff teams when the offense revolves around him. ISO ball with Roy (even when healthy) wasn't going to get us out the first round.

That was only tried one time, and with a team with no veterans. Miller has failed what, 6 times now? I would have taken my chances with a healthy All-NBA player over a decent PG who can't shoot or defend. That's moot at this point, though.

Neither are worth building around, and only one could possibly retrieve value in a trade.

Why not? Based off of a Houston series when nobody else stepped up? When we have nobody else with the ability to attack the basket? ISO ball with Roy, which isn't even the extent of our offense, but whatever, ISO ball with Roy would be alright if other people hit shots, or could attack as well.

Call it intuition or whatever, but, something never sat right with me in regards to Roy.
He'll always be respected for his great individual play throughout the last few years, but, personally I feel he's never been a good leader and his own personal greatness has come at the cost of the teams well being and growth.

If any of these reports surfacing now are true, then I really wish management had traded Roy at his peak (like I had wanted them too). Andre better not get the short end of the stick; he deserves better for his contributions.

Ultimately I blame management. Roy's always had far too much say in the running of the organization and a far too long leash. . .

I wouldn't worry too much about Andre he'll probably get traded to a contending team looking for a veteran point guard. And as for Roy's supposed lack of moral fiber and the team failing to rein him in, that's nothing new in the NBA, it's a star driven league and has been ever since Jordan played.

At least back to Magic Johnson. He got Paul Westhead fired.

Before that, I really don't know...before my time (Magic getting Westhead fired is a bit before my basketball-watching life, but close enough to it that I'm aware of it).

So if we traded Miller to the Lakers or the Heat, and he was the starting point guard on a team that won a championship, would it be solely because of Miller that they won?
