Donald Trump says he is “not a big believer in global warming.” He has called it “a total hoax,” “bullshit” and “pseudoscience.”

But he is also trying to build a sea wall designed to protect one of his golf courses from “global warming and its effects.”

The New York billionaire is applying for permission to erect a coastal protection works to prevent erosion at his seaside golf resort, Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Ireland, in County Clare.

A permit application for the wall, filed by Trump International Golf Links Ireland and reviewed by POLITICO, explicitly cites global warming and its consequences — increased erosion due to rising sea levels and extreme weather this century — as a chief justification for building the structure.

Floating balls golf course; he could make another 10 billion

When a problem comes along you must build it.

Being an Irish course, I'm sure he expects England to pay for the wall

Climate change is only a problem when it directly affects the 1%. Or the 0.1%. When the rest of the world has floods, droughts, crop failure, famine, wars over resources, then it's a hoax. The little people, you know.

Indian did a rain dance. It rained. Therefore the dance caused the rain!

Well, I guess I could believe that they do rain dances in India, too. That would make me feel better.

I produced an analogy to show the logic behind the premise in the title.

Anything built right on the coast, just about anywhere, is subject to bad things due to nature.

If government is going to subsidize the improvements to his property, he'd be a fool to pass on it. And he'd say whatever the government will accept to get that subsidy.

The bigger story here is it's a scam and he's participating in it.

Yes, I got the analogy you were making and I agree with it. Just had to give you a little PC grief.

Seems to me, Trump has climate change separated into agenda and actual. Very logical.

Oh my, perhaps now the planet may begin to heal. Sort of pushy though, I think the Aleuts and the Tlingit people ( a couple of many) were pretty happy with their handle. It was their name when the first foreigner came to ask. Not so sure they want to be blended into one name acceptable to Obama and gang. I know the Haida would tell them FO. But the majority of them are in Canada, maybe 30% in Alaska.

The Orient was a magical place, just a bit closer than Shangri-La. Weird how time would tarnish it's glitter. Now some places have been tarnished by the stroke of the powerful pen, places like Oriental NC. A neat little town on the inter-coastal waterway. I don't know it's history but not many will care now, bound to be offensive.

I figure that we're going to have to amend federal statutes at least every ten years just to keep up with political correctness.

The true term is "REAL American."

I don't think you've mentioned being much of a movie lover but Elysium with Matt Damon shows how the rich people will fuck it up when they live on a sweet floating space station full of mansions while the rest of us die.

Back to reality, they are just trying to ride it out comfortably.

He acknowledged it did he. What did he say, " Uh, it's raining, the climate changed." "Hey, climate how much to stop raining so I can finish my game, I'll write you a bad check."

Come on. I bet he has someone golf for him, and then takes the credit. "Look, the Donald hit a hole in one."

Ha! I can't believe you posted this tripe! I would build a sea wall too, the sea is rising you know. The sea wall is far more effective to shield your property than you can get from a carbon tax.

Sheesh!
