I like this guy. A no-nonsense Marine General who was considered too extreme for the Obama Administration.

Want proof? Here's some of his quotes:

You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them. Actually it’s quite fun to fight them, you know. It’s a hell of a hoot. It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up there with you. I like brawling.

And my favorite:

I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.

Get some, Mad Dog! Semper Fi!

EDIT: LMAO, I just noticed this one from that link:

“I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I’ll kill you all.”

Oh my God, I love this guy!

Here's some more info about the good General:

http://www.onemarinesview.com/one_marines_view/2013/01/a-generals-view-a-marines-marine.html

From the article, which I found interesting:

Mattis grew up in southeastern Washington state. He was an acolyte in the Episcopal church who admired Native American Indian culture and liked to run The Oregon Trail. After college he was commissioned as a Marine in 1972.

As a major, Mattis drew a difficult assignment — recruiting duty in liberal Portland, Ore. Mattis quickly turned the station into a top performer by cultivating relationships and winning the loyalty and hard work of junior Marines.

I said to a coworker the other day that Trump should just pick Generals for everything

The romanticization of mass killing by a natural-born killer. Trump should give Mattis the job of national Poet Laureate.

Jade, how many people did you kill before you got out? Or maybe you're still in.

Oh yeah, I'm totally still in. They even make GIFs about me.

That's right. All this time I've been secretly hiding the fact that I'm a bald black man in a special ops force with a minigun in the jungle.

I guess I have more in common with @dviss1 than I thought.

On a more serious note: they should change the "Defense Department" back to the "War Department". It sounds cooler anyways. Especially now that we have a genuine "Secretary Of War".

If you hate foliage that much, you could assist HCP.

Did you ever really kill anyone? Did your unit? Speaking of HCP, his unit killed 17.

Oh yeah. We're known as "Demon Unit". Our motto is "Night Time Is The Right Time".

We make ourselves invisible while naked, and then sneak up behind our enemies and stab them in the throat.

But that's Classified. You're not supposed to know about it. So keep it between us.

As for being naked....it's less things that get in the way. A knife and a small waist-strapped satchel is all I need to accomplish a mission.

Isn't your avatar the renegade base commander in Dr. Strangeglove? The Air Force general who starts a nuclear war on purpose with the Soviet Union by launching his ICBMs. I saw that movie at an Air Force base theater in the early 60s. The audience liked the antiwar movie, were not at all offended, and laughed at the funny parts.

I see the similarities you and this thread have with the general, though he had no monocle. Were or are you in the military?

...I looked it up. Col. Nick Fury, played by Sterling Hayden, an actor in many movies. The source of the picture is, of course, cia.edu.

1) No, it is not a picture of the fictional General Ripper. It's a picture of Oliver Reed in the film "Tommy":

Never seen the film, and I barely know who the guy is. I was simply looking around for a new avatar one day, and thought his picture looked badass. Simple as that.

Apparently, he died during the filming of "Gladiator", starring Russel Crow. They used computer generated images of him to finish out his scenes.

It's funny that you should mention Dr. Strangelove though, because I posted a picture yesterday of General Ripper in another thread about how he reminded me of General Flynn; Trump's pick for National Security Advisor.

2) No, I have never had the honor or privilege of serving in the Military due to a life-long hearing deficit that requires me to wear hearing aids in both ears. It would have been a life-goal of mine, however, if fortunes were more favorable.

A better picture:

Kinda wish I had made this one my avatar instead.

forever, your country wouldnt have wanted you, so make sure to thank a liberal for giving you the right to serve if you so wish.

I would have served regardless of that law, and kept my mouth shut. Those who go into the military to make a social statement about "equality", or to use it as a launching point for social justice, are fucking morons and the military doesn't need them. They are a distraction to the responsibility that the military has to keeping our country safe and our interests secured.

As I've said before: my sexuality is secondary to actual work and responsibility. Someone, or a law, telling me that my sexuality isn't welcome doesn't keep me from accomplishing those two things. Plenty of gay people served in the military before DADT was repealed. All the repealing did was allow them to be open about it.

For me, being open about my sexuality isn't something that I wake up every day feeling like I HAVE to do in order to live. I choose to be selective about whom I tell it to and when, but other than that, I don't let my sexuality define who I am. I'm just a regular person with faults, hopes, dreams, fears, and desires like everyone else.

I don't need to announce that I'm Bisexual in order to live my life, and I sure as fuck can keep quiet about it if it means keeping my job.

Being LGBT doesn't put food on the table or, in the case of the military: put rounds into a enemy who's trying to kill you. Put it aside or, if you can't do that, then fuck off and find something else to do with your life.

while you apparently dont mind hiding in the dark, you dont HAVE to anymore. for the time being at least.

Who said I'm hiding in the dark?

Jesus, not everything in life has to be about defining who you want to be. I know this may be a foreign concept to some, but there REALLY ARE more important things in life than what your race is, or what your sexuality is.

Growing up, I didn't have the luxury of sitting and pouting about these kinds of things. I had a mother with a violent temper who told you to do something, and you either did it or faced her wrath. And when I became an adult, I didn't have the luxury of getting to choose certain aspects of my life to define myself with. My father was constantly on my ass about keeping a job and having health insurance.

So for me, I had to prioritize certain aspects of my life. My sexuality was always secondary to everything else. That doesn't mean I'm "hiding in the dark", or any of that bullshit. It simply means that I've prioritized what works for me in my life, and I don't need anyone giving me special treatment about anything.

I'm a person, first and foremost. It's a shame others can't feel the same way about themselves.

you didnt have a choice to hide it or not. you HAD to hide it in the dark. it was the goddamn law!

thank a liberal for that freedom.

I'll thank a Liberal for freedom when they respect my 2A Rights. How about that?

The stupid cia.edu site said Col. Nick Fury, even though I remembered his Dr. Strangeglove role as being a general. Turns out Hayden played the Fury role elsewhere in his career. Back to Gen. Mattis, from his Wikipedia biography:

In May 2004, Mattis ordered the Mukaradeeb wedding party massacre, which resulted in the deaths of 42 men, women and children who were attending a wedding ceremony. Mattis states that it had taken him 30 seconds to deliberate on bombing the location.

If those goddamn liberals would have fought for my right to be a nearsighted 350 lb fighter pilot I'd have been a liberal myself.

Sure, I'd have crashed into a neighborhood and been unable to reach the eject mechanism but whatever.

Thank this liberal...he was arrested many times for guns and a spokesperson for the liberals.....lot more of them than you think
