Politics Trump considers mobilizing as many as 100,000 Nat Guard troops to round up unauthorized immigrants.

I'm convinced he's going to profit from this, and thats really the only reason why it's being done.

There are so many more important things we should be doing as a country (with the time, resources and people).

He's a coward. Like all bullies. After the first raid he tweeted about how we are all safer because of the gang members and drug dealers deported. Bullshit. They rounded up parents taking their kids to school, domestic workers, mostly women. Because gang members and drug dealers have resources and guns, and it would not be good PR if one of them started shooting at ICE agents. Mothers working as hotel maids don't carry guns, round them up. People who can't fight back.

Who the fuck is going to clean his shitty hotels?

I was thinking he was just going to place a bounty on illegals and let people round them up for money.

You've got the flow of money backwards. The right analogy is hunting licenses.

White House denies mobilizing National Guard for immigration roundups

The Trump administration is considering a proposal to mobilize as many as 100,000 National Guard troops to round up unauthorized immigrants, including millions living nowhere near the Mexico border, according to a draft memo obtained by The Associated Press.

The 11-page document calls for the unprecedented militarization of immigration enforcement as far north as Portland and as far east as New Orleans, Louisiana.

Four states that border on Mexico are included in the proposal -- California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas -- but it also encompasses seven states contiguous to those four -- Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer said the AP report was "100 percent not true" and "irresponsible." ''There is no effort at all to utilize the National Guard to round up unauthorized immigrants," he said.

Governors in the 11 states would have a choice whether to have their guard troops participate, according to the memo, written by U.S. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, a retired four-star Marine general.

While National Guard personnel have been used to assist with immigration-related missions on the U.S.-Mexico border before, they have never been used as broadly or as far north.

The memo is addressed to the then-acting heads of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. It would serve as guidance to implement the wide-ranging executive order on immigration and border security that President Donald Trump signed Jan. 25. Such memos are routinely issued to supplement executive orders.

Also dated Jan. 25, the draft memo says participating troops would be authorized "to perform the functions of an immigration officer in relation to the investigation, apprehension and detention of aliens in the United States." It describes how the troops would be activated under a revived state-federal partnership program, and states that personnel would be authorized to conduct searches and identify and arrest any unauthorized immigrants.

Every good dictator needs his own personal police force. Hitler had the SS. Napoleon had the Ministry of Police. Mussolini had the OVRA. Kim Jong has the State Security Department. Yep, everything is going to plan.

States aren't going to give up control of the national guard.

Not exactly. I don't see that much organization or control. He may have just much of an authoritarian impulse (it remains to be seen), but so far, he's shown no talent for mobilizing a grass-roots paramilitary organization (which is what the SS, OVRA, et al. were).

I wonder what it is that anonymous claims they have on Donald, since the 28th (their deadline) is coming up quickly.

Sounds serious...

By the time this is said and done the only illegal immigrants left in this country will be employed by Trump.

Someone has to make his taco salads

After all he loves the Mexicans

What is the National Guard going to do? Go door to door

We could turn it into a reality TV show; finally, get "Running Man." Just too bad Richard Dawson isn't around any more.

Holy shit ... "In the year 2017 ..."

Goddamn foreigners, coming over here and taking up all of our movie roles. They get what's coming to them.

I wish a reporter would ask Trump the following question: "Mr. President, there have been many people claiming that Mussolini was a better dictator than you. What is your response?" Like Pavlov's dog, the expected answer: "That's fake news. Listen, I'm the best dictator. Believe me. Nobody knows more about being a dictator than I do...."
