Politics Trump fires Comey

it's exactly like Nixon firing Cox....exactly...whether you like Comey or not. Just shows you must be a yes man to keep your job these days. Comey doesn't strike me as a yes man

Bullshit.

Cox didn't work for or report to Nixon. Comey does work for and report to Trump.

If there's a parallel, it's maybe that Nixon fired guys in his DoJ who wouldn't fire Cox. Those guys did report to Nixon.

It might be useful to wait and see who Comey's replacement is before leaping to unfounded conclusions.

There is more going on here. Comey was suppose to meet with a committee behind closed doors tomorrow. I think his testimony last week that he could not rule out Trump and an investigation on him, was all Donald could take.

actually he works for the United States.....Trump has a hard time with that....he fired a smoking gun that was pointing in his direction...Cox worked for the United States too unless you also want the govt to be a private company......BULLSHIT is a pretty accurate term to describe Trump's team....but it doesn't surprise me that you again give Trump the free pass.....he hates Clinton too

Trump fired Yates and numerous other people. That's what incoming administrations do.

Bullshit is an accurate term for unfounded speculation.

I am neither for or against Comey's firing.

The guy who wanted him fired was just confirmed by the Senate a couple weeks ago. The FBI Director reports directly to him; he's his boss. There's nothing fishy about the timing - if the guy was confirmed sooner Comey would have been fired sooner. The new guy came in and fired him.

It's clear that people on both sides didn't like Comey. Clinton came out and blamed him a number of times for her loss (which is bullshit). Schumer called for him to be fired, as did outgoing Senate minority leader Reid. Republicans were angry with him for laying out the case Clinton broke the law and then saying he won't prosecute.

The stories all along have been how he's shut down agents and offices that wanted to investigate Clinton further and others about how he went over the line by making public statements about investigations all along. There is an obvious dissension among the people working at the FBI. He allowed Clinton and her coconspirators to testify not under oath and destroy evidence (hard drives, laptops, etc.).

The con that's going on is evidenced by Rasta's tweets.

The FBI director isn't an independent special prosecutor. This is nothing like Nixon firing Archibald Cox.
I understand you are not a fan of Clinton Denny, but my god. Everytime there is an even remotely negative comment you come crawling out of Trump's ass to say how everyone is wrong and everything is just fine. They were both HORRIBLY candidates, but you can't deny that Trump is making a mockery of how we govern, and what it means to be an American. Did we need a shakeup and does the "swamp need to be drained"? Abso-fucking-lutely. But Trump is clearly not the person for the job.

I have a question for Trump supporters I'd like to have a civil debate about. What exactly would Trump have to do at this point for you to stop supporting him or want him impeached? I understand you want to "shakeup the establishment", and I totally agree that CNN and much of the liberal media are on a witchhunt and mis-report some things to make him look work and stir up outrage. I'm asking what it would take for you on a personal level to stop supporting him.

He can still meet with the committee behind closed doors.

In fact, he can speak freely because he can't be fired.

I don't exactly support him. I like the good things he does and dislike the bad things he does.

I really don't like the immigration policies and the travel bans and continued/expanded military actions and continued mass surveillance. When those topics arise, I do speak up about it.

I do think he's a pompous ass, and has had a rough time getting his administration going.

What would it take for me to call for his head? Non-partisan/objective evidence of wrong doing - something that democrats and republicans universally agree is wrong doing.

With foresight and in retrospect, I really wish Kasich was the nominee and elected president. Or ideally, the guy I voted for, Gary Johnson.

I hope so

Trump asked him 3 times on three separate occasions, am I under investigation, he said no all three times.

Two ways to look at this. He is nervous and insecure in asking him each time! Or this is sending a message to the acting FBI head that Comey had nothing on him, time to move on

Clinton, it does not matter which side of the argument you are on, she was guilty on Benghazi or not. Guilty about the emails or not. She WAS investigated in many many committees over what seems to be years.

Mike Huckabees daughter was on Morning Joe and said nothing has been found, time to move on.

I don't get it

I went on Twitter last night, lol I will never do that again! Both sides saying outrageous things.

I'm not sure I'd call myself a trump supporter, I didn't vote for him, but he's the president so he gets my support until he does something to lose it. He could start unnecessary wars- both military and trade, he could hurt the economy, he could give in to social conservatives and pass what I feel is intrusive legislation just to name a couple examples.

So far the economy has been great. We've seen military rhetoric but that's all it is at this point. The immigration ban was a shit show but I, personally, don't even think he thought it would pass. He's so concerned about being liked I think he wanted to be able to say "Look, I tried to stop those evil muslims but the courts stopped me". That's not great but we elected a showman and that's what we got. But until he does something that causes actual harm, I support him.

The economy has not been great. Its all smoke and mirrors.

Meh... markets are up, earnings are up, valuations are fair, unemployment (and employment) are improving. Q1 GDP growth was slow but did still grow and Q1 is usually slow, I'd expect another Q2 rebound. I agree people are a little too confident but that's to be expected as we are 9 years from the last recession. Not sure what else you could want.

Its a false economy that will eventually come crashing down hard. America must fail and it will (and it has nothing to do with Trump).

Coincidentally, he's not going to; the deputy director will meet instead.

Not true, he's been invited to meet with the Senate committee.

Senate panel invites Comey to testify next week

The Senate Intelligence Committee has invited ousted FBI Director James Comey to testify next week.

Democratic Sen. Mark Warner, the panel's vice chairman, said the committee sent a request Wednesday morning but has not heard back yet. Warner said the invitation went out with Republican committee chairman Sen. Richard Burr's consent.

It is not clear if the testimony would be public or closed.

"My hope is that he'll take advantage of this opportunity," Warner told reporters.

Sorry, my info was from 8am.

ITS FUNNY BECAUSE COMEY LOOKS LIKE THE WORD "COMEDY" OR SOUNDS LIKE THE WORD COMMIE.

A solid outlook. The "not my president" crowd is absolutely ridiculous and is just another line to chant for the unemployed people protesting throughout the cities.

His narcissistic need to be liked is what IMO saves him from truly causing harm. I feel like your sentiment about the economy is a bit unfair though, what exactly has Trump done to boost the economy? Besides the stock market bump that occurred when Trump took office, how has he improved anything? Even that bump was hollow, as it was based on nothing but the thought of Trump being "pro-business" and will come down sooner or later. He screams "JOBS JOBS JOBS" but i'd be more likely to believe the economy's improvement is based off of Obama's actions more so than anything Trump has done. Obviously, Republicans never want to give a Democratic President credit (and vice versa), but I've got an open mind and if someone would be able to show me some concrete evidence of ways he has helped the economy I'd love to hear it out and get educated.
