"Donald Trump had an argument with Vietnam veterans about the plot of Apocalypse Now during a White House meeting, it has been claimed.

According to The Daily Beast, the US president last year met with various heads of veterans’ organisations who were angered over the appointment of the now-sacked Omarosa Manigault-Newman to handle veterans’ affairs.

They were reportedly joined in the March meeting by administration officials including Stephen Miller, Kellyanne Conway, former press secretary Sean Spicer and Ms Manigault-Newman herself.
During discussions, Mr Trump allegedly angered and confused attendees by derailing a conversation about benefits for injured servicemen by getting into a lengthy argument about a scene from the iconic Vietnam War movie.

Rick Weidman, co-founder of Vietnam Veterans for America, reportedly asked that a wider number of veterans injured by the herbicide Agent Orange receive payment from the government.

Mr Trump claimed it was “taken care of”, according to sources who spoke to news site, puzzling attendees who informed the president there had not been nearly enough progress.

Mr Trump responded by asking if Agent Orange was “that stuff from that movie”, which people in the room quickly came to understand was a reference to a scene in Apocalypse Now in which US attack helicopters assault a Vietnamese village.

The Daily Beast reported various people informed the president the scene showed the US military using napalm, not Agent Orange.

Mr Trump reportedly refused to accept he was wrong. “No, I think it’s that stuff from the movie,” he is quoted as saying. He then polled people in the room over which chemical weapon they thought the scene depicted.

He finally asked for the thoughts of Mr Weidman, who assured him it was napalm, adding he thought the movie did a disservice to Vietnam veterans.

“Well, I think you just didn’t like the movie,” Mr Trump reportedly responded, concluding the two-minute argument.

Mr Weidman refused to go into the details of the meeting, but confirmed Mr Trump “said something where it was clear he was confused by napalm and Agent Orange”.

The White House has been contacted for comment."

Trump is an idiot. Although an awful lot of Agent Orange was used in Vietnam, the movie clearly depicted napalm.

The areas that I saw where agent orange was deployed were pretty well targeted. I'm going to suspect that it was either deployed by ground forces at night or by helicopter. We never saw it deployed but we saw areas where nothing grew.

I also never saw any napalm deployed. Plenty of air to ground missiles and machine gun fire from sky raiders. Also saw a large transport plane shooting tracers in the night on July 4, 1968.

Agent Orange poisoning is part of my disability.

Let me repeat - Trump doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

Ask him what the experimental drug was that they told us was malaria medication.

Ask him who stole our food and sold it on the black market so they could line their pockets. We ate slop. Sometimes you could buy K rations on the black market which were inferior in every way to todays MREs but far superior to the slop they fed us. Yeah, we paid out of our own pockets in order to eat. Meanwhile we got shot at almost daily. Bastards

I lost two people I knew from Oregon over there.

Sorry, I can be a little bitter at times.

Lyndon Baines Johnson, the Deep State Democrat President who re-enslaved black Americans, should be the object of your animosity.

Okay, I saw napalm being shot, which I'll suppose was staged by the film crew since I believe the movie was made in the Philippines.

He should know it's Agent Orange from Dow. Someone did not mention the stock market abbreviation for that chemical company and Trump associates his money with the stock market rather than the annihilation of the Vietnamese people who were carpet bombed.

I blame all three Presidents, Kennedy, Johnson & Nixon for the loss of many lives!
High Level government dudes never gave our guys a chance!
My son is in the Army and is going to be deployed soon, I at least hope he can be given the opportunity to protect himself and be supported by those he's protecting. I'm thinking we have some damn good military guys now that can offset high level government officials from playing with our troops lives.

It's obvious he was confused and was thinking about his facial cream as it's called Agent Orange.

Kennedy wanted to bring them home. Johnson wanted to end the war too but was already knee deep in horse shit by the time he decided so, and couldn't pull out because of certain pressures. Nixon didn't give a damn about our men, he cared only about political gain.

Johnson was paying tribute to arms manufacturers who were making trillions off govt contracts..remember the 75 dollar toilet seat bolts they sold the army? Everytime a helicopter was shot down they got to sell another one...(it's why we leave tanks and weapons behind after a war...they want to sell new ones). .while at the same time putting poor blacks, Hispanics and white farm kids into the grinder to keep them from unemployment lines...vote for me and I'll give you your war...that war was such a cash cow for the titans of industry that he kept it going ….Nixon after him was unable to hide his own paranoia and just lost it completely...Johnson knew exactly what he was doing. Good ole Texas boy!

I still think he had a part in JFK's assasination. Heard he was a real asshole. Making people have meetings in the bathroom while he took shits. Pissing on people. All sorts of fucked up shit.

An aside......if anyone is truly interested in one of the more exhaustive and fair minded histories of Lyndon Johnson (who I have always found to be one of the most interesting....and puzzling presidents) I highly recommend the (currently unfinished) series by Robert Caro, starting with “The Path To Power”. It started out as a 3 book “trilogy” but Caro started unearthing so much information (sidetracked by an entire volume on the senate primary election LBJ allegedly stole) that it is presently at 4 volumes, with the fifth and final book still to come sometime in the next several years. It is truly a fascinating story. With rare exceptions, no human is all bad or all good. LBJ most definitely had two very distinct sides to himself and Caro does an outstanding job of giving a balanced view. Hard to put down. If LBJ were alive today he’d make Donald Trump his bitch with a minimum of effort.......

Wayne Morse, Oregon's late and great Senator, who was always against that war, told the story about how Kennedy told him he was going to withdraw from that war shortly before Kennedy was assassinated.

Yes, he enslaved African-Americans with his Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act.

Very power hungry, but many politicians are, not all, but most.
I know Robert Kennedy couldn't stand the guy and the only reason they entertained Johnson as VP was for the black vote to come their way from having a southerner on the ballot. All about the vote!

I think it was more for the White Southern vote than the African-American.

I think it was more for the White Southern vote than the African-American.
Im sure it was to get both. From what Ive read Bobby Kennedy as his campaign manager thought that both MLK and Johnson would give them the southern vote.
