Washington (CNN)Donald Trump has become the first Republican presidential candidate to top 30% support in the race for the Republican nomination, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll, which finds the businessman pulling well away from the rest of the GOP field.

Trump gained 8 points since August to land at 32% support, and has nearly tripled his support since just after he launched his campaign in June. The new poll finds former neurosurgeon Ben Carson rising 10 points to land in second place with 19%. Together, these two non-politicians now hold the support of a majority of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, and separately, both are significantly ahead of all other competitors.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush stands in third place with 9%, down 4 points since August, and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz holds fourth place with 7%. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker follow at 5%, with all other candidates at 3% or less, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who notched the only other statistically significant shift in the poll by falling 5 points since August.

Trump's gains come most notably among two groups that had proven challenging for him in the early stages of his campaign -- women and those with college degrees. While he gained just 4 points among men in the last month (from 27% in August to 31% now), he's up 13 points among women, rising from 20% in August to 33% now. Trump has also boosted his share of the vote among college graduates, increasing his support among those with degrees from 16% in August to 28% now. Among those without degrees, he stands at 33%, just slightly higher than the 28% support he had in August.

Trump has also catapulted ahead of the rest of the field among Republicans who back the tea party movement, from 27% support in August to 41% now. Among that group in the new poll, Carson follows with 21%, and Cruz, another candidate with an anti-Washington message, holds third with 11%. No other candidate tops 5% among tea partiers.

Carson's gains, meanwhile, have come chiefly among core partisans -- he's up 13 points among Republicans and 11 points among conservatives -- and he runs closest to Trump among white evangelicals (32% back Trump, 28% Carson), a key voting bloc within the Republican primary electorate.

Carson also has enthusiasm at his side. Republicans are more than twice as likely to say they would be enthusiastic with Carson at the top of the ticket than if Rubio, Cruz, Walker or Bush led the GOP into 2016, and while he and Trump are about even in enthusiasm (43% would be enthusiastic if Carson got the nod, 40% if Trump did), fewer say they would be disappointed if Carson emerged the victor (20% would be dissatisfied or upset if Carson won, 32% if Trump did).

What record are you talking about? The word "record" is not used in that article at all.

POLL: DONALD TRUMP SETS RECORD, HITS 40 PERCENT IN NEW POLL

Donald Trump, the GOP frontrunner, hit the 40 percent marker in a recent Gravis Marketing poll. According to a report, this is the first time a candidate has reached above the 30 percent mark.
Since the previous survey done by Gravis Marketing on July 31, Trump increased almost 10 points. Dr. Ben Carson increased 7 points and was named the winner in a Post GOP Debate Poll.

Trump, Carson, and Fiorina three of the top five GOP presidential candidates, have never held office.

The Gravis results were as follows:

Donald Trump – 40.1%

Ben Carson – 13%

Jeb Bush – 10%

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) – 7 %

Carly Fiorina – 5.2%

John Kasich – 4.8%

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) – 4.7%

Mike Huckabee – 3.7%

Scott Walker – 3.5%

Rick Perry – 1.5%

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) – 1.5%

Chris Christie – 1.4%

George Pataki – 1.1%

Rick Santorum – 1%

Bobby Jindal – 0.9%

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) – 0.6%

The poll surveyed 3,567 voters randomly across the United States. It had a margin of error of plus or minus two percent and was conducted August 21-22.

Oh, so it's the first time in this election cycle a Republican candidate has reached 40 percent. Amazing.

A record that will never be broken. Call Guinness!

You're using this poll as proof that Donald Trump will be sworn in in 2017? You yourself in another thread said that you don't even trust CNN poll so why the hell did you even make this thread? CNN polls don't mean shit to you but yet you are here singing praises to trump about a polll that you believe is crap... You can't have it both ways... And there's no way that we are electing that piece of shit. There's absolutely no way he'll get the black or Hispanic vote. It certainly won't get the gay vote. Republican polls mean shit this early in the election anyway. That asshat will not be our president... Keep fooling yourself mags...

Donald Trump Once Saved A Woman’s Farm From Foreclosure

according to reports. Argenbright asked Hill to appear at a news conference with him in the city. That news conference made its way onto NBC's Nightly News and was watched by Trump.

"I saw a story on the news about Annabel Hill, who'd hit bottom," The Donald writes in his book The America We Deserve.

"It was a very sad situation, and I was moved," Trump writes in The Art of the Deal. "Here were people who'd worked very hard and honestly all their lives, only to see it all crumble before them. To me, it just seemed wrong."

Trump reached out to Argenbright, who was able to put Trump in touch with bank that held Hill's mortgage.

"The next morning, I called and got some vice president on the line," writes Trump. "I explained that I was a businessman from New York, and that I was interested in helping Mrs. Hill. He told me he was sorry, but that it was too late. They were going to auction off the farm, he said, and 'nothing or no one is going to stop it.'"

It was then, Trump claims, he decided to talk tough to the banker.

"That really got me going," he writes. "I said to the guy: 'You listen to me. If you do foreclose, I'll personally bring a lawsuit for murder against you and your bank, on the grounds that you harassed Mrs. Hill's husband to his death.' All of a sudden the bank officer sounded very nervous and said he'd get right back to me. Sometimes it pays to be a little wild."

"An hour later I got a call back from the banker, and he said, 'Don't worry, we're going to work it out, Mr. Trump.'"

At a press conference at the entrance to the Burke County Courthouse where the foreclosure sale was set to begin, Argenbright and members of the Hill family discussed their plan to save the farm. Neighbors and friends of the Hills, who had planned to console the family after their sale, were instead "stunned" with the news of a rescue plan, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Argenbright and Trump had put up the money with Federal Land Bank that morning for a 30-day option to purchase the farmland. The auction was called off less than two hours before it was to begin.

"It was a business decision that waiting a month doesn't put the bank in any worse position, and [the earnest money shows] that this is no sham," the bank's manager said. "In this case, there was a lot of cooperation and effort on their part. We don't always get that in foreclosure cases."

Annabel Hill told the media her husband"would be overjoyed with the idea that the land will be saved. Truly, I don't believe he will have died in vain, because one of these days this land will be coming back to the Hill family, and crops will be raised on it again."

During the 30-day option period, a donation drive to collect the $187,000 necessary to pay the debt was launched. It instantly took off, thanks in no small part to Trump's celebrity and his connections.

"By the end of the week, we'd raised $40,000. [Don] Imus alone raised almost $20,000 by appealing to his listeners," writes Trump in The Art of the Deal. After a successful swarm of donations the debt still stood at $78,000.

That was when Trump offered to help pay halfand Dallas farmer and landowner Tom McKamy matched Trump's offer.

"Financially this was obviously no big deal," writes Trump in The America We Deserve. "But in human terms, there aren't words to express what Annabel Hill gave to me. Most of us have a few things in life we would never give back, no matter what. Helping Annabel is that way for me."

That Christmas, at the atrium of the Trump Tower, The Donald and Annabel Hill, flanked by the media and others who had donated, burned Hill's mortgage.

"It feels wonderful, it really does — especially at this time of the year," Hill said. 'I'm just so grateful to these men. It's really hard with the main person in your family gone. This kind of eases the ache a little bit."

''I never gave up hope. Farmers don't ever give up hope,'' Mrs. Hill added.

"It was unreal, almost like my mom was Cinderella," Hill's daughter Betsy told BuzzFeed News. "We couldn't believe that we were going up to New York to actually meet Donald Trump in person and sit down and have a meal with him. He was just precious to help save our farm. It was just like we couldn't believe it."

"It's nice to see that other side of a big real estate, investor and businessman to want to help such small, little unknown people," she added.

At the Christmas event, Trump, struck a similar chord to what he says today.

"We give a lot of money to foreign countries that don't give a damn about us, but we don't help the American farmers," Trump said.

Annabel Hill passed away at the age of 91 in 2011. She said about the motives of Trump's charity, "the only way I can explain it was God touched his heart."

Trump kept in touch with Hill for a while after the mortgage burning.

"I would see Annabel, whether it was in church or whether, you know, out in the community and she was always saying, 'Well, you know I'm praying for Mr. Trump, I am praying for Mr. Trump,'" Marty Baker, a pastor at the local church, told BuzzFeed News. "And she just, you know, really stayed in contact with him some and continually just prayed for him."

"I saw a side of him that was very caring, very sincere," Argenbright told Lost Tycoon author Henry Hurt in his book.

"He would call her up and check on her [even after the publicity died out]. There was no feeling of, 'well, Frank, okay, you've done the deal. Annabel's gone. The publicity is over with. There's no benefit to Donald Trump now.' Not any of that ever."

The Hills, according to Annabel's son, Jim, who spoke with BuzzFeed News by phone, had never heard of Trump before he called up their family.

"It was a small Southern town," Jim Hill said.

Jim Hill said that after their farm was saved, the family became the unofficial spokespeople for farmers losing their lands to banks in foreclosure.

"She sort of kind of became the spokesperson of the entire group of farmers that committed suicide or were losing their properties or losing the remainder of their properties," he said.

Leonard Hill, Annabel's son, who currently lives on the farm, says the family is deeply indebted to Trump.

"I've got three daughters and it allowed them to grow up on the farm," Leonard Hill told BuzzFeed News. "We have been very blessed, very blessed."

"My wife was pregnant with our youngest daughter when Mr. Trump came into the picture, and she grew up and decided to be a lawyer and went to the Catholic law school in Washington, D.C., and probably would not have been able to do that without Mr. Trump," he stated.

"We about lost our names, I wouldn't even know who I was. It was a tremendous blessing."

After watching this interview with Trump, he puts on a much better pup and pony show than the other candidates.

I will give him credit when due. He has done his research and talked about some of the points he is weak on, and selling them as strengths. He is a very good salesman. However, in the end, it was just a show.

Trump is the best salesman in the race. I still do not trust him to make the right decisions for our country. I would never vote for him or buy a car from him.

A good salesman has as much chance to be a good president as someone that can remove a splinter from their ass has as much chance to be a good brain surgeon.

I can respect your opinion. So who you got your eye on? What if Trump wins the primary? Would you still not vote for him?

Not sure who I would vote for at this point. I am working through the process of elimination.
Here are the candidates I would NOT vote for, for ANY reason:

Trump; do not trust him, he would be a loose cannon in the white house.
Bush; we do not need to carry on the dumb family tradition of invading Middle East countries.
Clinton; should be in jail not the white house. (however, wish her husband was eligible to run again)

I disagree with Whittle’s faulty assumption that Trump does not give a damn what the news media, comedians, and hip hop artists think about him.

On the contrary, the first video you posted in this thread of Trump’s interview proves he cares very much what other people think. Trump is changing his message/sales pitch to appeal to a larger voter base.

Thank you for posting these videos. I like to read and watch everything I can on a subject, from all sides. I refuse to become a marionette controlled by a political party, and will make up my own mind who to vote for.

IRONIC: Numbers Show More Women Are Embracing Trump Instead of Carly

Donald_Trump_and_wife_Melania-300x180.jpg

Written by Leonora Cravotta on September 13, 2015

Donald Trump’s “misogynist” comments about women continue to make headlines. First the current 2016 GOP presidential front-runner took heat for remarks made in conjunction with his reality show The Apprentice where he made inappropriate comments about women”. Then, he famously took heat again during the August 6 Republican debate when Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly asked him tough questions about these comments including those specific to comedian Rosie O’Donnell. Trump’s exchange with Kelly reached a critical boil after the debate when Trump told CNN that Kelly came at him during the debate with “blood coming out of her eyes” and “blood coming out of her wherever”. After the Trump-Kelly war of the words had simmered down, Trump found himself having yet again more “female trouble”.

This time the subject of his attack was none other than fellow GOP candidate Carly Fiorina. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Trump said of Fiorina “Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!” Trump tried to walk back this barb by saying that he was not criticizing Ms. Fiorina’s appearance. Rather he was calling out her lackluster performance as CEO of Hewlett-Packard.

However, the damage was done. The media and the other candidates went ballistic saying that Trump’s criticism of Fiorina’s personal appearance was inappropriate and mean spirited. Fiorina, for her part, took the jabs in her stride. She attributed Trump’s attack as indicative that due to her rise in the polls, “she was getting under his skin”. Then the only woman in the GOP race one-upped Trump by tweeting, “I think I know when someone’s flirting with me.”

Interestingly enough Trump’s stock among female voters continues to grow. Trump’s support among female voters in the GOP is currently 33% , 13 points above last month. What is it about Trump? Why are women so interested in his campaign? Why are they willing to give him a pass for his past behavior? Perhaps, the intelligent woman focuses on Trump’s past business accomplishments and his perceived ability to bring new solutions and brain-trust talent to the administration. Furthermore, his out of the box ideas such as building a wall to keep out illegal immigrants are really resonating with women. Women like the fact that he says what he thinks and lets the chips fall where they may. And while this brusque approach may not necessarily make for polite cocktail party chatter, it certainly makes headlines. And frankly, all Donald Trump cares about is making headlines and engaging potential voters.

By contrast, Carly Fiorina is not gaining much traction among GOP women. She is only carrying 3% of the female vote. Why aren’t women going for Carly in droves? After all, she is accomplished, having proven her metal in the board room. She is also very articulate on the talk show and stump speech circuits. What ingredient is missing? Fiorina’s biggest problem may be that Republican women are not focused on identity politics. They want results. And women and men alike are questioning Carly’s performance as CEO at HP. Many say that she was a dreadful CEO who caused the company’s share value to plummet. She is also accused of making numerous misguided decisions about line of business purchases, and of course no one liked the fact that she handed out 30,000 pink slips during her tenure.

Republican women are very practical. They tend to be more about facts and figures than emotion. While women may think it appalling that Donald Trump made an offensive comment about Carly Fiorina’s appearance and denigrated John McCain’s war hero status, they are going to look past these comments if they perceive Trump as having the intelligence, the negotiating skills and the bravado to lead the country.

As far as Fiorina goes, the same rules apply. Women will look at her extremely objectively. And while we may love her moxie, we aren’t going to vote for her just because she is a woman. We will vote for the candidate whom we perceive to be best equipped to lead the country on day one in the Oval Office. Right now according to the polls that person appears to be Donald Trump.

But Carly Fiorina has demonstrated incredible resilience on the campaign trail. She won the respect of many voters when she successfully fought back against CNN’s published qualification rules for the September 16 debate which would have excluded her from the main stage. Fiorina’s latest come back to Trump clearly shows that she is one tough cookie. And if she hits another home run at the Debate, she should experience another jump in the polls including a rise among women voters. But again, it is all about persuasion and perception. Carly needs to convince women and men that she has the “right stuff” to be President. The ball is in her court.
