President Thieu surrendered to the North in Viet Nam...again...not our country

We still surrendered. We had millions of soldiers there as if it were our country. We left in a hurry and left military gear there. We had no will to fight. Gave the land we defended to the enemy.

Obama drew a line in the sand, and blinked. Remember?

The gist of the article is that Obama made things terribly worse by his actions and his inaction. He hasn't a clue. And he won't listen to his military advisers, who do have a clue.
He hesitated for good reason...we didn't want to commit to another middle eastern war with boots on the ground...he made that decision too soon and admitted it but his reasons for leaving were reasons I can relate to. He wants to use advisors and drones or sea support to tilt the scales and avoid troop involvement..what happened after we left was not good..we all know that including Obama but it's still ongoing. A village was freed this morning with women burning their burkas in the street after being enslaved....they are losing...some American vet is at a ball game with his kids right now instead of being there.

It's time for you to Merriam-Webster here Denny.

bullshit....it took decades for us to deescalate and leave that place...the Viet Cong were the people's choice in the end..no army was changing that...it was past due time to leave...and a lot of brave Americans stood post until the last left....bothers me how your tone portrays our troops as cowardly..Nixon never surrendered to North Viet Nam...he did help get the Southern Vietnamese politicians out of there

We weren't there for decades.

I don't think our troops are cowardly. They're heroes who do their duty when ordered into battle.

It wasn't the military that surrendered. They were ordered to leave by the surrenderer in chief.

I don't want troops in Syria or Libya. We should never have intervened in those places.

Wait, so Denny posts this and then the next day follows it up with 20 posts saying how we should send troops to Syria and intervene.

We were involved in Viet Nam from 1955-1975...do the math yourself....2 decades

If we left 40,000 troops on bases in the desert in Iraq like we should have

Denny, this is what Marazul and Riverman get and you don't. Troops are actual American lives. The way to prevent Americans from being killed in Iraq is to not have them in Iraq. It's that simple. Posts after post you cry to have more Americans die in the middle east. Why? We need to get the fuck out of there. If the middle east doesn't want terrorists there then they should band together and fight them. Why do we have to fight terrorists for them? At some point Iraqis need to stand up and fight for their democracy.

Post after post you blame America for the terrorists, and blame America for not killing the terrorists, and blame America for arming the Iraqis, and blame America for this and that, over and over. The best thing we did was leave the middle east. Fuck Iraqi. I know to you that war is fun but we're doing a shitty job of taking care of the soldiers we've already sent there. It's not a dem or repub problem, both parties have done a shitty job taking care of our vets. And here you are crying about not sending more Americans over there to be killed.

Sad.

I never did any such thing.

You're crazy.

Something tells me Katrina Pierson will wake up tomorrow to...YOUR FIRED!!!

Sad.

When the # of troops dying in Iraq is the same as those dying hit by jeeps crossing the street on base in the US, then it is no safer to bring the troops home.

I live next to guys who have done multiple tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan and they'd go back in a heartbeat.

I don't think war is fun. I think if you put a nation under our protection and surrender to their enemies and hundreds of thousands of those people die, everything we did was for nothing.

It's sad you want Iraqis to die so Obama could get a small bump in the polls.c

bama is responsible for tens of thousands, if nut hundreds of thousands of Iraqi deaths and all the terror ISIS has brought

No, Iraq is responsible. Iraq is responsible for what happens in their own country. They wanted us gone. We left. What happen after we left is on them, not on us.

No, Obama is. They weren't dying until Obama surrendered.

The graph made you look bad yesterday, do I need to repost it?

And no, Iraq could not defend itself, or it would have.

The graph didn't make me look bad. It was your sad attempt to justify keeping our soldiers there to fight and be killed. Fuck Iraq.

I don't really care what happens in Iraq. At some point they need to stand up for themselves. Unlike you I'm glad we're out of there. Fuck Iraq.
At some point they do. I would be glad if Iraqis blood wasn't contunuing to be on our hands. It seems one of us has a conscience and the other says "fuck Iraq," let em die.

It made you look bad. As does your being happy with Iraqis dying.

Either Iraq needs to stand up for itself and fight for their democracy or they need a megalomaniac dictator like Sadaam. I don't care which. That's up to them.

end of 2011 is when about a zillion things happened...the world didn't stop so Obama could destroy the middle east...you need to stop painting our leaders as middle eastern babysitters and see that if you want to be a sovereign nation, you'd better act like one. Time for these little countries to grow up and pay their own bills for a change

Like it or not, Obama was dealt the hand that included the Iraq situation.

The goal, obviously, was to have Iraq stand on its own. Sectarian situations are tricky because a decade of occupation isn't going to make those people forget their history and problems with one another.

We saw it here in the civil war. The North occupied the South for decades to assure blacks got their civil rights. When the occupation ended, Jim Crow followed. The whites didn't forget and took action against the blacks.

We have troops in Germany and Korea for many decades and that's what it took to make those countries able to stand on their own. We are still "babysitting" there, and other places. Iraq isn't unique.

I don't think we needed to fight in Iraq any more, just keep the place stable and pressure on the government to be inclusive. Until it became second nature to the people.

Instead, we saw surrender for a bump in the polls.

Denny is writing an angry letter to the French for not rescuing this lady. Louisiana used to be theirs! Why won't they stay to help?!?

Just wow.

The numbers don't say what you think they do.

We had 60 and 54 die in 2010 and 2011, out of 140,00 troops. We have more than that many die on base in the US due to accident. Thousands, in fact.

As I already said, we have tens of thousands of troops in Germany and S. korea for the same reason we should have kept troops in Iraq.
