People in the news and twitter are missing the forest thru the trees with this article.

It's not about him finding tax loopholes.

It's not about committing fraud to claim bullshit losses.

It's about him being over $400 mil in debt to foreign entities and using his office and power to address it. Can you imagine the leverage other countries could have with that hanging over him? Hell they already are.

America should not pimp itself to bail this criminal out.
 
Follow this thread from a Forbes reporter, his actual total debt is above $1 billion, most of which are coming due in the next 5 yrs.



1. How the hell did they give this guy security clearance?
2. Who the hell keeps underwriting his loans? Gotta dig behind all these Deutsche deals.

Why would anyone give such a terrible businessman $300-400 million in loans?

No wonder no one has never made an attempt on his life, despite the animosity he provokes. He owes too many people too damn much money.
 
So, when he says he is negotiating with the IRS, is he trying to use his office to get them to stop the audit?

Trump (to the IRS): I'm the president, I order you to stop auditing me

IRS: No

Trump (to the public): We are negotiating

It's going to be interesting to see if this has any impact at all on the polls. My guess is no. Dems have been wanting to see his returns since the 2016 campaign and the Trumpster has been hiding them for now-obvious reasons. The $750 income tax payments make some great headlines that will make people who already hate him hate him harder, but will it make any difference with his base? I doubt it. I don't think it's unusual that rich people don't pay much in income tax. I remember Warren Buffet saying a decade or so ago that he only took $100K in salary and that he was able to write off a good chunk of that with allowable deductions. Rich people usually make much more on long term capital gains, which has a maximum tax rate of 20%. They also often borrow money to live on against assets and pay no tax on that. Trump will play up the other taxes that he does pay and will talk to his base about how his assets aren't over-leveraged and what a great businessman he is to use the tax code to avoid taxes and not be a chump.

More than that, Trump's base will see his cheating on taxes as a positive, proof of his strength and power.
