No they didn't some British Troops went up to help in Canada. The troops that sacked D.C. came from ships on the Atlantic and British Soilders stationed at Tangiers Island off the coast of Virginia

For 300 years Canada was a conglomeration of (originally French) settlements and trading camps and at the time of the burning of our white House in 1814, fully under British control. It was an extension of British colonialism and the country of Canada did not technically exist until 1867. The British based masses of soldiers there from the time we kicked their fat butts out of America until the late 1800's. Most British soldiers based on the continent were born and raised in Canada, hence President Trump cuts through the bullshit and correctly calls a spade a spade.

Nobody ever accused him of knowing anything about American history. Hell, he apparently doesn't even know the words to "God Bless America" and I suspect he doesn't know the words to the "Star Spangled Banner" that he touts so reverently.
