The more I think about it....the more I am kinda swaying over to Dumps opinion on trading Yandle.

My original theory was, hey they can resign Yandle with Boyle's contract expiring. Which is about a 1.88 savings, that with hopefully an increase in the cap should cover Yandle's increased cap hit....

But..when you start looking at what is already tied up in the 2016-2017 year...4 dmen already locked in at 18.8 if you bring up Skjel that is another 1m.
That is 19.8 of the 47m already on the books for next season. Now throw in the contracts of Hank (8.5) and Nash (7.8) to go along with Brass (5) and MZA (4.5) we are already at 47m with 3 centers needed and a boat load of wingers...

The cap is going to be very tight next season, we cant become the Pens with such top heavy players. One of the top D have to be traded. Would rather Staal be moved instead of Yandle.

I hope it's as clear to the front office as it is to many of us that either Klein or Yandle need to be traded. I think the obvious move would be to deal Klein and it makes no sense to deal Yandle, but we'll see what happens. TSN was also the place reporting that the 16OA was on the table for Talbot and we know how that went.

I also crack up when people continue to rip on a 23 year old kid who had suffered a significant injury while seeing him play MAYBE 10 games tops. This is his camp to earn a spot, if he does, great, and if he doesn't, that sucks. Sauer took just as long if not longer so give it a rest with this McIldope nonsense.

I really wish they would tell Boyle he has to waive his no trade clause and get out of town. Klein is light years better. We would be losing a very good 2nd pairing Dman if they trade him

I dont "want" to trade him either, but like I said before with Staal's extension kicking in and Yandle's full 2.6 hit on the books as opposed to his pro-rated hit of about .3 from last year, this team is spending entirely too much on defense. Entirely.

The only way I see Klein around is if they're already looking 2 years ahead, are worried about signing Yandle, and realized they'll be down 3 defenseman if Yandle walks (along with Boyle obviously leaving). Maybe they want to keep Klein on his current deal to play on the second pair for a few more years.

To me one of them has to be dealt. If you keep Klein and Yandle and with Diaz added the 7 are set and no kid has a shot, and I am pretty sure McIlrath has to pass through waivers to get sent down. Makes me think dealing a dman has to happen for a top 6 winger. I would almost bet on it now.

Even the McIlrath/kid part aside, purely from a money standpoint it makes no sense to have this much tied up in D, especially when your goaltender makes a cool 8.5m per. I mean jesus, it's nonsensical if this is the opening night roster.

I want to keep Yandle as well, but a dman has to go for a forward. The issue is at 2.6 or 2.9 even moving Yandle or Klein won't open up a ton of space. On top of that I will add if there is any chance they won't resign Yandle then they might as well deal him. If you don't want to pay him 5 mill + per, then deal him for the forward we need. At least Klein is signed for a few more years.

I like Etem. I like Stalberg. I like Fast. I like Miller. But I don't see how we can go into the season with 3 of these guys in the top 9.

We would need a huge Nash again, big growth from Hayes/Kreider/Miller, Etem to take a big step up to 15 + goals, Fast to take a step up, Stalberg to score 12 goals.

Hags scored 17 goals, and 0 on the PP, which is often forgotten when discussing him, he was a very good 5 on 5 player for us. MSL scored 20 + last season.

So to me if the plan is D and Hank and hope some of these players take clear steps up, that is a huge risk. Plus we have 7 dmen with Diaz added, so what do we do with McIlrath?

That's why if we are keeping Yandle, and we better resign him, and Boyle is staying, we really should move Klein as Prod has said. It makes a lot of sense given the makeup of the team.

I agree, and want to keep Yandle. Plus dealing Klein now is clearly dealing high on him. I think we need to do it. We don't need a 6 man D group like the one we have. We can deal Klein and use Diaz/McIlrath as the 7th guy, and then add at the DL if we need someone better.

We need to add a top 6 winger IMO.

I think this will be a starting lineup on an opening night. They will probably move Klein or Yandle during the season to improve top 6. We will probably be a playoff bubble team from the start.

Raffi Diaz is a right D. That is somewhat telling in its own right. I think it's setting up a McIlrath/Diaz battle for the 6th spot, with the loser becoming 7. They also compliment each other nicely in their size and style of play.

Say we dont move Klein and go with the current 6. Since McIlrath has to be on the roster next year and would therefore be the 7, why bring in another righty with him? Wouldnt you want versatility with a spare lefty, even if that lefty is kept in Hartford until needed?

Come on Gorton (read: Glen), it makes too much sense. Klein out, J. Williams in.

Unless as Step predicts we're going to wait to in-season when the cap hits become pro-rated. But that's gambling big time. Just set the team up from the start and let it ride.

How much estimated space do they have now, factoring in what the rfas will make, about 1-2m? I think you package Fast/D.Moore/Prospect for a forward. Let Lindberg have a clear path without DM still blocking him.

We are not dealing Moore. We are not dealing Fast. We will not go into the season with all these dmen and short at forward. There is zero doubt in my mind a dman is moved and a forward added...zero doubt.

Plus like Prod said, you have R McIlrath R Klein R Diaz. Klein is going...makes too much sense. Either that or Boyle is going, and that is unlikely.

I like Klein, but if moving him enables us to get the top 6 forward we need it must be done. Plus, like I mentioned, we would be selling high for sure on Klein, which is smart.

This organization would be beyond stupid to trade Fast. He probably was our best defensively forward in the playoffs. He's a right show. He started to chip in on offense.
