She’s hot.

But she’ll get exposed real quick and then it will be onto the next one right before Trump leaves office in January.

CNN made Kayleigh McEnany into everything Trump would want in a press secretary

In the darkest moment of Donald Trump’s candidacy, when so many had abandoned him in the wake of the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape, Kayleigh McEnany was there for him, defending him on a six-person CNN panel.

“Those comments are despicable,” she acknowledged. But, “he apologized for them.”

Wasn’t he advocating sexual assault? McEnany didn’t think so. “He said he starts to kiss a woman and then they let him do X, Y or Z. That implies consent,” she said.

It had taken months of practice, but McEnany had perfected her act as one of the original pro-Trump pundits on CNN. She described herself as “that blond girl passionately advocating for then candidate Donald Trump proudly wearing my gold cross” in her 2018 book.

Now, her rise to President Trump’s next press secretary — at 31, among the youngest to ever to hold the position — turns her Trump defender role on cable news into an official White House position. She is replacing a camera-shy Stephanie Grisham, who did not hold a single press briefing during her nine-month tenure. McEnany, by contrast, loves a camera, and vice versa — with the glossy looks of a cable host, an appealing quality for a boss known to assess the telegenics of his appointees.

But it was a network the president purports to hate that made McEnany everything he would want in a press secretary. For over two years, CNN paid her to come to fight with other commentators over Trump, opportunities she took night after night. Before then, she was a virtual unknown.

“She auditioned on our air for this gig,” said an executive at the network who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Many of her appearances devolved into shouting matches captured and monetized in countless videos described by the network’s YouTube page as “CNN commentators clash.” She clashed with other commentators over Trump’s support from white supremacists: “He’s not going to be baited into these traps you are trying to lay for him,” she said. Sheclashed over Stephen K. Bannon’s appointment as his chief strategist. Over polling data.

Fellow Republican commentator Ana Navarro mocked her with an air violin, and Christine Quinn, former speaker of the New York City Council, commanded her to “stop smiling and smirking,” yelling, “You’re outrageous!”

CNN

When Trump retweeted a doctored video that showed him body-slamming a WWE fighter with the CNN logo superimposed on it, McEnany defended him again: “It was just a joke.”

McEnany never apologized or conceded a point, a sensibility that she shared with Trump — and that put her on his radar.

“Outnumbered 8-to-1, or if she was lucky, 7-to-2, Kayleigh never backed down in fighting for the conservative movement supporting Donald Trump,” Sean Hannity wrote in his forward to her book, “The New American Revolution: The Making of a Populist Movement.”

“The thing that is amazing about her is that she manages to defend incredibly gross and disgusting behavior without seeming gross and disgusting,” said Sally Kohn, a liberal pundit and frequent Trump critic who appeared alongside McEnany as a CNN contributor.

McEnany was one of CNN President Jeff Zucker’s early experiments in assembling crowded panels with a mix of political views. They created the model for a pro-Trump cable news pundit, which has become a well-worn path to the White House.

“And has put in place a candidate — I can’t imagine Biden beating Trump in an election,” he admitted.

“Biden is such a fucking slime ball, he’s so weak, and has no appeal to anybody,” the “Another Brick in the Wall” rocker continued. “Trump, at least, is a snake oil salesman, he does tricks. He does them really badly, but people don’t care.”

Disclaimer: He really hates Trump, so should point that out

Roger Waters hates Biden and Trump for that matter. Noted.

Very proud of my daughter. She is a Bernie Supporter and this was our exchange.

She respects my position as I do hers.

Why would she respect your position?

"Dad, I respect you for pimping for that gross sexual abuser"

Yes, she respects the fact that I have my opinions. She’s actually open minded and understands that not everyone lives by her moral standards.

Would you respect your child if they were a trump supporter?

That doesn't make any sense. She considers sexual abusers "gross," but respects you supporting one.

That's like saying you consider Hitler a genocidal maniac but because you're open minded, you respect people who support Hitler because, hey man, that's just an opinion and you gotta respect people having opinions.

It's even sillier because she specifically calls out the problem of society belittling sexual misconduct--which is exactly what supporting a sexual abuser does. So, you're the problem she hates but she totally respects that.

Nice sensationalism by bringing such a dramatic example of Trump and Hitler being of the same spectrum.

No, I raised her to stand up for what she believes in. Understand there will be people that disagree with you, and you won’t feel their opinion is logical or stands on what you believe is on your moral ground. Respecting other views regardless.

So when she thinks Trump is a sleazebag, we discuss in a way that we try and understand the other’s perspective. She understands my support is not his misogyny, but the policies he takes on issues that matter most to me.

I can ask you the same question. Would you respect your child if they were a trump supporter?

That's not what I was doing. I was illustrating my point via exaggeration. Just saying "Well, it's my opinion and should be respected because everyone's opinion should be respected" is trite and meaningless. That's more easily illustrated using someone pretty much everyone considers a monster, rather than a political issue or figure of the current day.

Sure, but as I said, you're specifically doing the thing that she supposedly has a problem with--belittling sexual abuse against women, by supporting a sexual abuser. So again, it's a nonsensical statement to say, "You're creating the problem I hate, but I respect your doing so."

I can ask you the same question. Would you respect your child if they were a trump supporter?

I wouldn't respect that position. Loving someone is not the same as respecting anything and everything they say and do.

Well, How about we do it this way. Would I respect my daughter’s opinion that she’s a fan of Communist China, even knowing I hate it to the very core? Yes, yes I would. I would debate her on that, just like my daughter debates me, but in the end, we end the convo with a “mutual respect for each other’s views”

I will repeat again. She already knows my support for Trump is not because he’s a misogynist. It’s based on his political agenda aligning with mine.

I wouldn't respect that position. Loving someone is not the same as respecting anything and everything they say and do.
Neither would my daughter, but she sure the hell respects that I support Trump as I do with her supporting Bernie.

I think it’s wonderful that she doesn’t hold her nose and vote for Biden. Very courageous don’t you agree?

I don't think you are understanding my point. I know that you aren't supporting Trump for his sexual abuse. What I'm saying is that when you support a sexual abuser for political reasons, you are belittling the issue of sexual abuse/misconduct. What you are, in effect, saying is, "His policy agreements with me matter more than the fact that he's sexually abusive to women." That's the definition of trivializing/belittling the issue. Which is what your daughter claims she has a huge problem with. So you are doing precisely what she says is the problem with society.

Neither would my daughter, but she sure the hell respects that I support Trump as I do with her supporting Bernie.

I don't think that's a particularly consistent position for her, but people are often inconsistent when it's their family. Love isn't always rational. I get that.

I think it’s wonderful that she doesn’t hold her nose and vote for Biden. Very courageous don’t you agree?

Maybe. A lot of Sanders supporters hated Biden long prior to these allegations. So, it may be principled or it may be something she was going to do anyway (not vote for either). Without knowing her and having talked to her all along this process, I couldn't say.
