Man GOP is fucked. Republicans are starting to verbally accept and admit Biden has won. And they will be blacklisted by Trump because of it. Trump has become the republican party. He lost and will eventually have to leave DC but he will take those who haven't stayed loyal down with him. Trump will retain control of the Republican party even after he is no longer president. Scary.

Even scarier I have heard DeSantis is in line to run in 2024 with Trumps grace
Please God no DeSantis. He is the worst governor I've ever lived under. He is the epitome of being a piece of shit.

GOP leader McConnell finally acknowledges Biden won election

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell congratulated Democrat Joe Biden as president-elect on Tuesday, saying the Electoral College “has spoken.”

The Republican leader’s statement, delivered in a speech on the Senate floor, ends weeks of silence over President Donald Trump’s defeat. It came a day after electors met and officially affirmed Biden’s election win.

“I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden,” McConnell said.

“Many of us had hoped the presidential election would yield a different result,” he said. “But our system of government has the processes to determine who will be sworn in on Jan. 20. The Electoral College has spoken.”

McConnell called Biden someone “who has devoted himself to public service for many years.” He also congratulated Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, saying “all Americans can take pride that our nation has a female vice president-elect for the very first time.”

Well that's big of him. I guess he didn't want to be outdone by Putin finally acknowledging the results today.

Trump must be be feeling pretty down today with both Putin and McConnell saying he is done

Biden is a proverbial pawn. He takes his marching orders from his democratic beholden.

It's sad that you actually believe that, or think it's actually true. He's, like Clinton and Obama, barely is a democrat and none of them were liberals. You got nothing to worry about.

We'll see.

I don't think he has dementia but will anyone here go on record as saying they think Biden is still sharp?

Biden said "poor kids are just as bright and talented as white kids" in 2019. He's repeatedly told a story about pinning a Silver Star on a Navy Captain in Afghanistan, which appears to be a mash-up of several different stories that he can't differentiate. He often confuses Iraq and Syria.

Mental acuity peaks around 30-35 and starts declining at 45, according to one study focused on chess playing ability. He is absolutely declining cognitively and must surround himself with a capable cabinet.

I just lost my best friend to vascular dementia, he was 72. It came on pretty fast approx 1 year ago. Tell the day he died he could carry on a conversation and remember long term things, struggled with short term.
I do believe Joe has lost a lot but does well for his age. And I do believe the DNC/Media got him the candidacy as they were afraid Bernie would lose to trump. It was pretty easy to see with the media basically endorsing Joe. It work out well.

Well.....it’s nice to finally have a president with some sort of brakes being applied, regardless of who is applying them. The megalomaniac 2 year old currently squatting in the White House took no orders from anyone, including the taxpayers who put him in office. The last 4 years were totally out of control.

is this your first post in this thread since before the election!?

Do you accept Biden as president-elect or are you still fighting it?

I've always stated in here that I will support whomever gets elected. Including Biden. I absolutely respect the office.

that's not answering the question though. Is Biden the President-elect?

President Trump may be refusing to concede that he's leaving the White House in January, but first lady Melania Trump and the Secret Service are reportedly busy preparing for his post-presidency life at Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Palm Beach, Florida. There may be a hitch in that plan, though: the neighbors. And thanks to legal agreements Trump signed in the 1990s, they may be able to stop him from making Mar-a-Lago his next home, The Washington Post reports.

Trump's Mar-a-Lago neighbors sent a letter to the town of Palm Beach and the Secret Service on Tuesday demanding that the town notify Trump he can't reside at Mar-a-Lago because he signed away that right in 1993, the Post reports. Telling Trump he can't use Mar-a-Lago as his residence now will "avoid an embarrassing situation" in which the former president is ordered to leave after he moves in, the letter said.

Trump converted Mar-a-Lago into a private club in 1993 because he needed the money and the estate was expensive to maintain, the Post reports, but in order to get approval for the transformation, Palm Beach made him sign an agreement that no club member could stay at Mar-a-Lago more than 21 days a year or seven consecutive days, among other restrictions. His attorney promised at the time that Trump would not live at Mar-a-Lago.

"There's absolutely no legal theory under which he can use that property as both a residence and a club," Glenn Zeitz, a nearby Palm Beach homeowner, told the Post. "Basically he's playing a dead hand." Along with the 1993 agreement, the Post reports, Trump deeded development rights to the nonprofit National Trust for Historic Preservation, pledging to "forever" give up his right to develop Mar-a-Lago or use it for "any purpose other than club use."

Palm Beach has enforced the agreement sporadically, giving Trump special leeway while he served as president and frequently visited the property, but the 1993 deal could cause a special headache for the Secret Service, which strives to comply with all state and local laws in carrying out its protective duties. A Trump Organization spokesman told the Post "there is no document or agreement in place that prohibits President Trump from using Mar-a-Lago as his residence." Read more at The Washington Post.

A judge in New York on Tuesday rejected President Donald Trump's claim of attorney-client privilege that could have shielded documents from the New York Attorney General's office.

The Trump Organization was given until Friday to turn over documents from the engineer of its Seven Springs Estate, a property in Westchester County being investigated by Attorney General Tish James over how it was valued by the organization while seeking tax benefits from New York state.

At issue is whether the property's conservation easement is legitimate. The president's son, Eric, sat for a deposition. James' office is looking into whether an improper valuation let the Trump Organization take a $21 million tax deduction.

The Trump Organization had argued the engineer's documents were privileged because they helped lawyers value the property, but Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that none of those documents met the standard of confidentiality.

"By December 18, 2020, the Trump Org. must produce all communications with Ralph Mastromonaco to the New York Attorney General's office," Engoron said.

Seven Springs is one of four Trump Organization properties that claimed New York state tax deductions and is part of an investigation that will follow the president once he leaves office.

The company had been asserting privilege over documents involving Mastromonaco, an engineer involved in the property's appraisal.

"There is no accountant-client privilege, and there is no engineer-developer privilege," Eric Haren, of the attorney general's office, said Tuesday during oral arguments.

Haren claimed the Trump Organization effectively waived privilege over the property's appraisal when the company submitted it to the IRS, though the judge initially questioned the argument.

"Is that your position? If you give the IRS a request for a deduction that anything that had to do with it is waived?" Judge Arthur Engoron asked.

"At no time did we waive any privilege assertions," said Amy Carlin, an attorney for the Trump Organization.

She also argued Mastromonaco was performing a function covered by privilege doctrine.

"The fact that Mastromonaco was initially retained to provide certain specific engineering work doesn't mean that he wasn't also ultimately performing a Kovel function," Carlin said, referring to a legal principle that extends attorney-client privilege to other sources of expert advice.

"What is the evidence that Mastromonaco was acting as an expert to explain things?" Engoron asked.

The investigation stems from the congressional testimony of Michael Cohen, the president's former fixer and attorney, who has pleaded guilty to lying and campaign finance violations.

"It was my experience that Mr. Trump inflated his total assets when it served his purposes, such as trying to be listed amongst the wealthiest people in Forbes, and deflated his assets to reduce his real estate taxes," Cohen said in February 2019.
