Or maybe your standards are just too low.
Yeah, maybe. If that's the problem, then we have to find some way to convince a type of person who currently doesn't run for office to run.
What type of person would you want? And what incentives would they realistically require to do it?

If you dislike all of the 17 republicans from 2016 and all of the 28 democrats from 2020, maybe you are just too picky.

I honestly have a hard time figuring out when you're trying to be serious or not so I usually just joke around. lol
For a sort of more serious answer, there have been some particular candidates I didn't mind for one reason or another and some time a politician wins that even if I don't really align with their politics I don't really mind that they're the president. I wasn't a fan of a lot of things Obama did, but I didn't mind him as a president, seemed like a nice guy, smart, etc. There were a few democratic candidates this time around I found interesting and sort of liked, Yang comes to mind he never had a chance to win, but I thought he had interesting idea's (even if kind of gimmicky IMO), and seemed to understand the 'future' better than older candidates that seemed to feel out of touch (also my opinion).
I think I most closely align myself towards being a libertarian, and while I certainly don't think any time in the next 20 years or so there will be a third party in the white-house I think the corruption at the top of the parties seems pretty disgusting and far-reaching. I cannot see myself actively supporting either party unless a lot of things change. I'd love to see a third-party start making noise at a more local level.
I tend to vote libertarian not just because I think they come fairly close to how I feel politically but because I don't believe the democrat and GOP elites have the best interest of the country in mind.
Politics has always been a game (for centuries before the USA was a thing) that only a few have ever wanted to dabble in because it's a sly eat sly world out there, and there are plenty of other avenues to have success in life that don't require so much of a person's private life to be strewn about for everyone to see. I think the real issue is good leaders are hard to come by and many get ate up by politics along the way, it's not so much how do you incentivize being a public servant, it's how do you prepare children, young adults, college kids that may have the goals of leadership at some level politically or privately and help them develop the qualities required to last in politics while still being able to perform the jobs.
I think you have too many negatives in that first part...?Oh, I was being serious, this time. It sounds like you are saying that there aren't good candidates out there that aren't running, but we could make good candidates from scratch if we worked at it. It's maybe a bit of semantics, but I'd call that incentivizing. Make the position desirable to the right sort of people.

It's like a sporting event, as a game goes along you get the trend. Now, should your star player go down with an injury then the outcome can change on a dime. Should a politician make a huge blunder, his fate can also make a sudden change. Still, a poll gives you a feel for the trend and increases the odds for one or the other to win.Polls are always evolving so what one says today can be much different in a month. Pretty much that way in polls, mock drafts etc. They are only educated guesses of the opinions today. Expecting anything more from a poll would be foolish imo.
That’s a double edge sword. I don’t think Biden could defeat Hillary. Hillary is a seasoned politician, rarely gaffing, excellent debater. She was hated, but she was also loved. Most with Biden are “Luke warm” with their support."Hillary" is not running in 2020.
Not quite sure that complicates anything. Is there a link to this story?

Okay, so this deal was done before he was president or even running for that matter. He only has a 30% stake, with controlling interest by Vornado. Everyone in 2012 was borrowing from China.

seems like a nothing burger to me. The Biden argument was he was Vice President when the Hunter deal was being made. Big difference.
Most Presidents, well actually all Presidents prior to Trump, divest themselves by placing their holdings in a blind trust or outright selling them before they take office. By the way, placing your holdings in the hands of relatives is not divesting.Okay, so this deal was done before he was president or even running for that matter. I see that argument on various other stories. The only difference is this story because Trump had no political position that deal was made with a China bank.I am failing to see why there are people so up in arms about biden and nepotism when there are more than 1 nepotisitc entries in the white house doing the same exact thing that biden was doing.
Am I the only one seeing this hypocrisy? None of them are qualified, none of them earned it, none of them are doing shit. I'm so confused.

I don’t believe that’s true. Even Obama didn’t have his mutual funds in a blind trust while President, among other Presidents named here. Most Presidents, well actually all Presidents prior to Trump, divest themselves by placing their holdings in a blind trust or outright selling them before they take office. By the way, placing your holdings in the hands of relatives is not divesting.
The argument that anyone but Trump doesn’t seem like a valid one imo. I mean I’m sure many are out there, but I wouldn’t say that’s a majority. I would say a good portion of Americans still pick Presidents based on their policies and how well they present how they can run the country. Not the ones who dislike Trump.
Plus the media is not only exposing how bias they areI honestly have a hard time figuring out when you're trying to be serious or not so I usually just joke around. lol
