Did anyone here know that Vic Morrow (the actor who played the racist guy in the TWZ movie) actually was killed (along with 2 young child actors) while filming the movie?

A helicopter crashed during a scene, and decapitated him and one of the child actors, and landed on the other one, killing them all.

I never knew that.

I never knew he had died this way. I remember that character having a big impression me as a child (that and the kid who could make his family members turn into cartoons).

In retrospect (? I don't think I mean that), it's hard to believe that characters scenes weren't just re-shot with a new actor.

sounds like the pilot, who was a vietnam vet, got spooked/scared shitless by the pyro, and panicked, or went low and crashed.
