Twitter rumor - Blazers to deal F Gerald Wallace for picks

To Orlando:
Brook Lopez
Gerald Wallace

To New Jersey:
Dwight Howard

To Portland:
Multiple first round picks

Something tells me this rumor is originating from Orlando or New Jersey, because it doesn't pass the sniff test. If the Blazers are going after Crawford, which has been confirmed, then it makes no sense to move Wallace.

I'm not opposed to blowing it up - but if we do, I sure hope the plan is a lot better than bringing in Jamal Crawford and trading Wallace for (what would seem to be) not so great picks.

Multiple first round picks & Felton

and we sign Crawford.

FYI - CP3 and his family and Larry Miller are very good friends.

Make it multiple firsts + Felton + Batum and you might be on to something there. Or what I just said Plus Camby and Okafor.

Signing Crawford and shipping out Wallace isn't a rebuild. It means Wallace wasn't in the plans, and that Batum is going to be extended at some point.

I think it'd would most certainly have to include Wesley and Freeland. They want/need as much young talent as they can get.

I like the way you think, sir!

If you're rebuilding, why would you spend most of your money on an aging guard like Crawford? Also, Wallace sticking around and Batum being extended aren't mutually exclusive.

It's not as if we'd be making a long term commitment to Crawford. It's a 1 year deal/

Correction, CP3 used to be friends with Larry Miller when Larry was in charge of the Air Jordan division at Nike about hasn't given two shits about the man since he became president of the Blazers.

I heard it was a two year deal with a one year out for Crawford. If it is a one year deal, or a two year deal where we have an out, then it could coincide with rebuilding.

The multiple picks you would get for Wallace is why you would deal him. If you are rebuilding/retooling then you want picks

This has to be a part of something else. We're sending out a starter for future picks when we're already thin in talent.

I don't know why you guys are happy giving draft pickscto a team that cant draft for shit.

Jason Quick @jwquick

If Blazers deal Wallace, the Blazers by next summer will have shed Roy (16.2 mil), Camby (11.2 mil), Wallace (9.5 mil) and Oden (??) >>>>

$40m+ coming off the books.

I would do it just to block the lakers from getting Howard.

On a serious note it would suck this year. But I do see the logic for the big picture.

The thing is though, there will be a shitload of teams with cap space next season. And we'd be overpaying someone to come here.

I think the picks will go into a package to bring in another player.

Wesley + Freeland + Felton + 2 first-round picks....

Why would we trade an all-star forward, when we are short of forwards, for a guard, when we have a surplus of guards?

The multiple picks you would get for Wallace is why you would deal him. If you are rebuilding/retooling then you want picks

Neither Crawford nor Wallace is going to help this Blazer team win a title this year. Why not add assets like picks if you can?

That's how Pritchard thought. Look at all our useless picks of the last few years. Fuck picks. You go through many picks to find an all-star forward.

I don't like it. We need frontcourt help, not backcourt help.

Gerald Wallace was our best player, once we got him last year. This is our best player we're giving away.

WojYahooNBA: Portland could extract as many as 3 draft picks for G. Wallace in possible multi-team Nets deal for Dwight Howard.”

but what quality are the picks? is it one first and two seconds? that isn't nearly as much fun as 3 lotto picks!

as someone else said, picks for a team that sucks at drafting! and for our 2nd best player, not sure i'm thrilled with this like some of you are.
