Two Blazer Power Forwards better than LaMarcus

Welcome to our community

Sheed and Sydney Wicks are my favorite Blazer PFs. It takes a big man to wear a big P on your head.

Buck and Sheed are my favorite PF's. I started watching the Blazers since the 86-87 season, so I didn't get a chance to watch Sidney Wicks play.

So let's get this straight: everybody hates Sheed and Zach until Aldridge leaves in free agency. I wonder who'll leave next so that we can again clutch Aldridge to our bosoms?

Not gonna happen. And for the record, I wasn't upset when Sheed and Zbo were traded

Wicks was good, but no one liked him.

My favorite Blazers Power Forwards are Moses Malone (haha), Lloyd Neal (I'm listing him even though he was forced to play center a lot), Lucas, Buck, Grant, and Sheed.

We've had a lot of good, tough Power Forwards in Portland. No surprise that's what we've come to expect from the position.

Lets don't forget Kermit Washington and Kenny Carr. They were both tough as nails and had no problem doing the dirty work and letting the other guys get the glory.

Nope. Not better than Sheed because Wallace was a MUCH better defender than LA. I would argue that LA and Zach are pretty comparable. Tons of hollow stats and not much heart when it comes to winning.
Come on! We all can be butt hurt, but Aldridge was much better than both Zach and Sheed. Sheed is a much better defender, but his on court antics lost us many games. Sheed didn't average more than 8 boards a game in Portland to boot

At least we went further in the playoffs with Sheed. His on court antics cost us games, but you had to love the attitude he brought to the team!

Lamarcus did not lead the Blazers to deep playoff runs or win a ring..Sheed was way more passionate and successful as a player and had a better all around game...won a ring in Detroit and went deep in the playoffs against stellar competition most of his career. Lamarcus is a great PF but lacks leadership and playoff experience

Well said.

I loved Sheed! Rooted for him when he was a piston. But he didn't lead us when we made the WCF two years in a row. There were two leaders in the 1999 squad and 3 on the 2000 roster. None were Sheed.

Part of being a leader is knowing when to defer and allow his teammates to thrive.

everyone Sheed played with called him the defensive vocal coach on the court...like Wes was. He led the defensive intensity wherever he played and I disagree that he wasn't a leader, he just didn't need stats to affect the game..

Also, leader doesn't define him as a better player or not.
For all of Sheed's attitude issues, Id still take his attitude over LMA's.
LMA was never a leader here either. First it was Roy, then Dame. LMA never fully embraced being a leader. He talked the talk, but when it came down to action he had two stellar games against Houston. That's it. Other than that he has been an average player when it comes to PF's. The league is just weak with PF's right now, so he was more sought after. If LMA were around in the 80's and 90's, he wouldn't even have been an all star.

FTFY and I agree with you.

Here is a list of Blazer PFs that are better than LaMarcus: Lucas, Buck Williams, Brian Grant, Rasheed Wallace. He's on the level of Cliff Robinson and Zach Randolph.

Some folks consider Wallace to be the best HS player to ever come out of Phillie, after Wilt Chamberlain. Some think he was even better. But Sheed never cared about being a star. He just wanted to fit in And be a part of the team. I think that's probably why he went to UNC. And while I hated it when he let his inner punk off the leash, he knew how to "fill in the gaps" very well, while letting the bigger egos shine. That's a good guy to have on your team.

You can't be serious. Sheed was an embarrassment. So was Zach, by the way.

You can MAYBE make a case for LMA being better than Zbo, but not Sheed. And at best I'd say it's a draw between Zbo and LMA.

His decision to fuck us on his way out of town? It's obvious he'd always intended to go to the Spurs. His little melodrama, stringing us fans along, and leaving us with nothing is the source of most of the bitterness. Also folding his tent with playoff games remaining was kind of pansy ass

LaMelda can go suck an egg.
You cynical ass. LMAO

Stop it, you sound silly.

WCFx2 > WCFx0

You mean if Pop, Duncan, Parker, Leonard, Ginobli, Mills, Diaw and the new guy win...nah...still not the same. I respect Lamarcus but doubt his leadership skills under pressure. On the Spurs, he's a follower so far.

Larry Brown; Billups - Ben Wallace - Hamilton - Hunter - Prince and the new Guy. Nahh still not the same. I respect Sheed but I doubt his leadership skills under pressure. On the Pistons he's a follower.

And a follower who knows he's a follower is worth more than a fake leader with no leadership qualities or skills.
Sheed knew what the PF's role should be and he played it well.

Parker > Billups, Manu > Hamilton, Leonard > Prince, Popovich > Brown, Duncan >>> Wallace
