Thanks for the link, hoojacks, and I'm happy to hear that this is apparently a hoax. For the record, I didn't get this from any conservative site, I got it from Wiki.

[91] Egypt's National Council for Women (NCW) has appealed to the Islamist-dominated parliament not to approve two controversial laws on the minimum age of marriage and allowing a husband to have sex with his dead wife within six hours of her death according to a report in an Egyptian newspaper. The appeal came in a message sent by Dr. Mervat al-Talawi, head of the NCW, to the Egyptian People's Assembly Speaker, Dr. Saad al-Katatni, addressing the woes of Egyptian women, especially after the popular uprising that toppled president Hosni Mubarak in February 2011. She was referring to two laws: one that would legalize the marriage of girls starting from the age of 14 and the other that permits a husband to have sex with his dead wife within the six hours following her death. According to Egyptian columnist Amro Abdul Samea in al-Ahram, Talawi's message included an appeal to parliament to avoid the controversial legislation that rid women of their rights of getting education and employment, under alleged religious interpretations.
I don't get why Media Matters has a banner on the link you provided that makes this sound like the right is making shit up to turn Americans against Islam. One of their own links says that this story was first reported by Egypt's own state run newspaper; then on an Egyptian TV show. So, I don't know why MM is blasting the right for assuming it was a real story.
The news about passing the so-called 'Farewell Intercourse' law by the country's Islamist-dominated parliament was first reported by Egyptian state-run al-Ahram newspaper and Egyptian ON TV on Tuesday. It was picked up and analyzed by Al Arabiya English a day later, following which international media picked up the story.
I've been trying to educate myself on what's real and what's made up about Islamic customs, practices and beliefs.
Another of the things I've heard about (from guys returning from Afghanistan and seems to be real from what I read), is the custom of "man love Thursdays". According to what I've heard and read, this involves grown men having sex with young boys on Thursday nights.
This seems to fly in the face of what I read that Islam does not condone homosexuality. I've read that, in some Islamic countries gays can be put to death. How can homosexuality be condemned, but be a common practice?
If man love Thursday is real, how widespread is the practice? Does it happen every Thursday, or limited to 'special/holiday' Thursdays? Are the boys involved doing this willingly? Does it matter if they are willing? Is it a common in some/most/all Islamic countries, or is it more limited to Afghanistan?
Thanks again in advance to your insight.
