Am I alone in that I am the only one who doesn't want Vince to be traded? I for one, do not question his desire, if anything, it feels as if he had more overall desire to WIN than he did last year, when I saw him yucking it up with opposing players numerous times during blowouts. He's upset that he isn't providing what his team needs right now, and I for one, feel that he should stay. The desire is there, but desire won't get you the results when you're second best shooter on the floor is RJ. Everyone else has a range of pretty much 15 feet and in, allowing defenses to collapse on carter and forcing him to take tough shots. VC is not the problem, he hasn't complained once since this new "offense" has been established and his been pretty much a model teammate, unlike our "captain."

yes, you are alone

The most important factor about Vince Carter is NOT the following:

1) Whether it looks like he is trying or not trying
2) Whether he settles for jump shots too much
3) Whether he is injured too much

The most important factor about Vince Carter IS...

...his game does NOT fit with Jason Kidd's. That is the bottom line.

1) Carter does not run the break
2) Carter does not run cuts in the half court

Those are the strengths of Kidd's game. The whole point of Jason Collins boxing out and Kidd leading the Nets in rebounds is that way, the Nets can have Kittles, Kenyon, and Jefferson running down the court ready to dunk or layup.

The plain and simple fact is that that is the formula that got the Nets to the finals. No other combination has come close.

Now that Wright is playing with confidence and defending like Kittles, and Sean Williams is exhibiting Kenyon-like qualities, what the Nets SHOULD do is get back to fast break and motion basketball.

Unfortunately, they can't. If no one else wanted Carter as a free agent, do any of you really think someone out there will want him with this bloated contract?

VC for Zach Randolph. he had a monster game.

Yes. Trade Kidd, keep Carter.

Great post Furnace.

To you answer your question about who would want Vince Carter? The Clippers would. They pursued him a season ago, but weren't willing to let go of Shaun Livingston at the time. The Clippers really regret not acquiring Allen Iverson and have been seeking a Plan B. Vince Carter would be a marquee player for them to market around and a superstar name to compete with Kobe and the Lakers.

The Clippers need to do something to convince Elton Brand to stick around. He doesn't want to be part of another rebuild effort in Clipperland. The Clippers will likely lose Corey Maggette so I imagine he would be included in a deal for Vince.

Well, you're certainly in the minority.

It's more a question of us rebuilding a team that actually has a shot to win a title, rather than having the second round be a perpetual best case.

I would say that you're not alone in this but i'm more of a carter fan than the nets, I followed raptor games when he was in toronto so, if they're gonna trade him i'm all for it as long as it's a good team.

But, what do the Clips have that we want? Kaman and Brand? Neither of which they are willing to give up. As for Maggette, unless he's part of a step towards rebuilding; I don't want him. We would all much rather have VC on the team.

1st round Draft pick? Thornton? Livingston? Cassell (expiring contract)? Maggette?

Clippers just cut Ruben Patterson, whose deal would have become guarranteed on Saturday. They cite "increased roster flexibility."

Possibilities:

(1) There's a trade in the works.

(2) They are trying to save money.

What do you think?

Thornton, Maggette, and a 1st rounder would work...and maybe another random player. Maybe get a 3rd team involved.

Thorton perhaps? The Nets are still looking to give Marcus Williams an opportunity to be their future starting point guard. And considering Livingston's injury, maybe it isn't such a good idea to show interest in him.

they aren't going to get rid of VC. they give him that huge contract and expect him to be the star in Brookyln.

nope, we're super desperate for a scoring big man. He's a excellent rebounder and a scorer and would help our halfcourt offense which is shit. face it, Kidd is not the same Kidd anymore and neither is this team. who exactly runs on this squad? Wright but he cant finish, RJ is losing his explosiveness, that's it. atleast Zbo can rebound and score inside.

QUOTE (soul driver)

exactly

u see what I mean?? the team would do better losing the rest of there games and hope to get a high pick. In three years VC will be a shell of the player who was able to move jerseys and crowd the highlights.
