Rich Cho becomes general manager for Thunder
Rich Cho, ‘assistant general manager’ for Thunder was nominated and announced as the ‘general manager’ for the team. The decision was taken by the Blazers. Rich had recently flown to Helsinki to meet nobody other than the owner itself, Paul Allen. The instructions for meeting and connecting with Paul in person were directed to Rich by Larry Miller (the team’s very own president). When asked what Paul was doing in Helsinki, Rich was quick to answer that he was jus lazing and celebrating a vacation. He went and met up, close and personal with Paul and was offered the job by Larry, the very same night.
Rich celebrated his promotion by having dinner at some amazing seafood restaurant. He is known to be a next – generation executive of NBA. He has a vast and diverse background, that of mathematical, legal and an engineering aspect. He is somebody who puts lots of thoughts and analysis to all his actions. Rich is an engineer by profession (was one at Boeing), has gone through law schooling (only because many higher position executives of NBA had done so) and has a passion for sports (has played Basketball, Tennis and Baseball). Rich has known many people from the Blazers’ Organization like McMillan (coach), Cheri Hansen (media representative), Bob Medina (conditioning coach).
