Exiled chief rabbi says Jews should leave Russia while they can

Moscow’s exiled chief rabbi says Jews should leave Russia while they still can, before they are made scapegoats for the hardship caused by the war in Ukraine.

“When we look back over Russian history, whenever the political system was in danger you saw the government trying to redirect the anger and discontent of the masses towards the Jewish community,” Pinchas Goldschmidt told the Guardian. “We saw this in tsarist times and at the end of the Stalinist regime.”

“We’re seeing rising antisemitism while Russia is going back to a new kind of Soviet Union, and step by step the iron curtain is coming down again. This is why I believe the best option for Russian Jews is to leave,” he added.

Goldschmidt resigned from his post and left Russia in July after refusing to back the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Ukraine made an offer to agree not to join NATO and be a neutral country in the first days of the war. Rejected by russia. You do understand that a country cannot invade another country and then ask for avote while they militarily occupy, yes? What if USA invaded Mexico? Possibly a majority of Mexicans would vote to join USA. But is that the kind of world you want?
They won't negotiate on the separatist region, where over 90% voted for the president that was ousted in the 2014 us backed coup.

Ukraine is no better than russia in any respect. The best solution os what prevents civilian suffering and needless death.

Day 311. “We will liberate our land. We will win this war – I am sure of it. We will restore freedom and security to all Ukrainians, no matter where they live.”–Zelenskyy.

First I don't know why I bother with arguing with you. Is your ignorance coming sraight from russian propaganda? My bias is that I have a Ukrianian wife and have lived in Ukraine for almost ten years. Where is your bias coming from?
Yanukukovych did not win 90% of the vote in Donbass, maybe 80% . If you look at all the territories that Putler has annexed, then it's 70%.
Would this mean that anywhere that Trump won 70% that a Trump army should be able to come in and hold a referendum to secede from USA, with soldiers at every polling place?

BTW, I gave poor example above. Possibly some Mexicans would want to be absorbed into a wealthier country but in Ukraine we have the opposite; Ukraines are better off than russians, as evidenced by the russian looting of washing machines, hot water heaters and flat screen tv's. russians should be better off with all the oil revenue but Putler and his crooked friens have stolen it all.

They have been attacking their own people in donbas.
This is straight from russian propaganda. Did you mean that they are returning fire against the russian armed and led socalled "separatist" armies? Ukraine has been very careful to try to hit only military targets and because their artillery is more accurate, have usually succeeded.

Yes, consent of the governed
Can you even imagine the implications of your ideas. Soon, just one block in a city could decide to have a vote and secede? Can you imagine the chaos? What is your real agenda here?

Or perhaps when Trump won the presidency in 2016, Canada should have annexed all the northeastern states that voted Clinton, and the US should have been like "OK, they don't want to be part of this country anyway..."

Just because they voted for Yanukovych, who at the time said he wanted to joint the EU, doesn't mean they want to be part of russia.
The opinion statistics in the Ukrainian conflict are always very interesting. The Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) showed in a survey taken from 29 April to 11 May 2014 that only 23% of the people in Donbass supported joining Russia ,

while another poll from september that year says 17%

The fun part about Russian soldiers in Moldova is they've been there since 1992. Russia started moving west and then, for some reason NATO become popular with our former colonies.

There's that quote that goes something like, "Tell me who your friends are, and I'll tell you what you are."

The friends of Ukraine are the U.S., Canada, the EU, Australia, Japan, South Korea, etc., while the friends of Russia are Iran, China, North Korea, Venezuela, etc.

And the Republican party.

Over 90% of the residents in that donbas region supported the ousted president, and ukraine has been shelling and committing atrocities against them. But western media ignores that fact

I bet many of you would want to break away if russia ousted biden and put trump back in power.

When did Ukraine start shelling? After they were invaded by Russia and Russia began attacking Ukraine from those regions?

Sounds like a case of don't start nothin, won't be nothin.

So you're claiming Russian polls/voting are to be believed and that Russian media only reports facts, while Western media sources are all lying ?

Ukraine shells only militry targets, unlike russia. What atrocities have they committed? Stop parroting russian propaganda lies.
