Murmurs today of a possible Russian Civil War coming from this situation.

That's a scary thought to say the least. I'm still of the opinion that if/when Ukraine brings Russia to its knees, what's left of Russia should not only give back all of the territory to Ukrainr, including Crimea, but they should also be required to fix/clean up the mess they've made...and also cooperate with the apprehension of war criminals, including Putin. (if he hasn't already been assassinated by then)

Russian troops 'forced to fight with shovels' as ammo shortage undermines Bakhmut advance

Ammunition shortages that may have forced some soldiers to fight using shovels have fueled new Russian infighting and threatened to undermine what could be the Kremlin’s first major victory in months.

Russian troops continued to advance through brutal close-quarters fighting around the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine despite a lack of ammunition hindering their progress, Western military analysts said over the weekend.

The head of the Wagner mercenary force that has led the campaign, meanwhile, renewed his criticism of Moscow's military leaders over the supply issues and warned that Russia's positions in the area could be in jeopardy if they weren't resolved.

Bakhmut is currently surrounded on three sides after months of bombardment that has laid much of the mining city to waste. The defensive stand has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance to Russia’s invasion; “Bakhmut holds” is a rallying cry heard across the country and in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s nightly video address to the nation.

But Ukrainian positions in the east have been worn down by an intensified Russian assault over the winter that has seen a mix of ex-convict Wagner fighters and newly mobilized military reservists thrown into waves of attacks.

The British Ministry of Defense, which posts a daily intelligence briefing to social media, said Sunday that in late February Russian reservist soldiers were ordered to attack a Ukrainian position with "firearms and shovels."

The shovels are likely the same ones used to dig trenches and which have been used on the front line by Russian forces since days of the czars.

"The lethality of the standard-issue MPL-50 entrenching tool is particularly mythologised in Russia," the ministry said. "Little changed since it was designed in 1869, its continued use as a weapon highlights the brutal and low-tech fighting which has come to characterise much of the war."

The ministry added that the increased close-quarter fighting was probably due to a continued focus from Russia's military on deploying soldiers on foot due to a lack of artillery ammunition.

Twitter is fucked up right now but there are reports that the Wagner group is barred from the Russian Military Headquarters in Moscow.
@MarkHertling ret general
At the beginning of Russia’s invasion, I noted the RU Army was violating every one of the 9 principles of war.
Now in Bakhmut - w/ a lack of coordination between Prigoyzhin, Shoigu, Gerasimov & Putin - it appears they are especially violating one: Unity of command.

Ukraine's new martryed hero. This assasination only further enrages us. I immediately gave a large donation for thermal drones.

On International Women's Day, Russia awarded Mother of the Year to a woman who lost a son in Ukraine. She was awarded a multi cooker.

Lose a child, get an Instant Pot, or whatever they call the inferior Russian imitation.

Are they getting cheap? They usually give enough to buy a Lada, a very bad russian car.

Bakhmut still holding but there are also heavy battles going on all over the east of Ukraine. Ukraine claims to have killed almot 6000 russians in the last week, probably the highest weekly total of the war. Ammunition is a problem for both sides, especially shells for large artillery. European countries are being very shortsighted about providing fighter aircraft to Ukraine, claiming need to keep for own defense. Don't they realize that the only reason they would need this defense is if Ukraine is defeated in this war? russia still attacking civilian targets with hypersonic missiles that travel so fast that they cannot be shot down. USA has not developed a weapon to counter or developed their own hypersonic missiles which might enable Ukraine to strike the Kerch bridge and isolate Crimea.
It may seem like russia is gaining territory and has the upper hand right now but I think they have just about shot their wad and soon Ukraine will strike back.

Russian jet collides with US drone over Black Sea

A Russian fighter jet has collided with a US drone, causing the unmanned aircraft to crash into the Black Sea, the American military says.

It says the drone was on a routine mission in international airspace when two Russian jets tried to intercept it.

The US European Command said the crash on Tuesday was the result of an "unprofessional act by the Russians".

US and allied forces will continue to operate in the area, it added. There is no word on the incident from Russia.

"Our MQ-9 aircraft was conducting routine operations in international airspace when it was intercepted and hit by a Russian aircraft, resulting in a crash and complete loss of the MQ-9," the US statement said.

Several times before the collision the Su-27 fighter jets dumped fuel on the drone in a "reckless, environmentally unsound and unprofessional manner".

MQ-9 Reaper drones are large unmanned aircraft with a 20m (66ft) wingspan designed for high-altitude surveillance.

Shashank Joshi, defence editor for the Economist magazine, said the Russians may have been trying to intimidate the drone as it was hoovering up their communications.

For it to be lost completely in an attempted intercept is highly unusual, he notes.

Is dumping fuel on a drone a wise tactic?

engaging a US Airforce drone the way they did could have killed both Russian pilots easily...engaging us in international airspace is provoking US intervention into Russia's confrontation...now Putin is spouting off about wiping Britain off the map if NATO escalates....Putin has to be taken out like Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Ghaddafi..we are seriously on the edge of another World War and it sucks big time. Russia has scrapped the SALT agreement so the gloves are off.

Yeah, Putin will have to be dispatched.

Yup, and even Putin surely realizes that and attack on GB or any other NATO member, would also result in the destruction of Russia...problem is, he may not even care and could push the RED button if he's backed into a corner.

Maybe we need to send this guy to do a wack job on him.

I didn't know that Michael Cohen and Chris Christie had merged into one person.
