Funny. You schmuckl! ;)

On a side note, we just moved to a new community. I'm really pleased that there appears to be many more black folks than white, etc. I love living in a multi-racial environment. Pasty white neighborhoods are borrring! Everyone is super friendly here.

sure you do :blahblah:

We watched the Netflix documentary Winter on Fire last night. All about the 2013 Ukraine almost civil war. Crazy stuff, I had no memory of it being that nuts at that time. It's a good prelude to what's going on there today, when they got cheated out of joining the UN due to Russia. After watching it, it is amazing that Putin thought he could just walk in. The Ukrainians are tough as nails, much respect to them.

My concern is that Russia will cut off supplies from the West and have Kyiv surrounded, using a dark age tactic to starve people to death.

this from a TV show in 2015 before he was actually president. hilarious

Journalist Andrew Cockburn & Historian Timothy Snyder on Ukraine, Russia, NATO Expansion & Sanctions.

Is anyone else concerned that the sanctions will just corner Russia into an all-out war? Reminds me of how Hitler used the sanctions put on Germany after WWI to motivate the German people into another war.

Why we dont stop importing oil from Russia is crazy! We are financing Putins war and the killings.

I do not think we import a lot of oil from Russia. The issue is that if Russian oil is cut - there is a lot more competition from the places we do import oil from - from all over the world - and oil prices will go much higher.

The solution as we have been talking about for a long time is to accelerate the move to alternative sources for all kinds of consumption.

First step, start converting a lot of the world transportation to be battery / electricity motivated - which makes it much easier to reduce the dependency on oil.

Yea, but what else are we going to do? By then their economy could be running on fumes. Their conscript army and equipment running on wd40 and duct tape are not a real threat. Gotta worry about those nukes tho and an actual war makes them much more of a real possibility

We are concerned about our own recession and an energy crisis in Europe.... Cutting off Russia could put oil at $150 a barrel. It will be done eventually but Putin knew this would be hard for us and banked on us not doing it.

i don't think pootie has the charisma that hitler did. he might induce fear in his people, but there will hardly be any motivation in the russians to destroy their country even more than it's already been this past week.

all the more reason for Europe and US to be more energy independent. We could export oil & gas to Europe if needed?

We could but it's not as easy or cheap as a Russian pipeline. It will affect prices by a lot. Gas especially requires major infrastructure to liquefy for transport. There's only a few places than can even do that and more require a lot of time to build. This crisis will spur that infrastructure and more green energies, Russia is making themselves obsolete on so many levels over Ukraine. They will basically be like North Korea soon

This. Ramp up renewables and nuclear ASAP.
