This is the kind of video i don't care for. Hard to tell exactly what was happening other than the car was destroyed.
Not sure if they were civilians or not? Even if they are plain clothed they might be very military minded.
Not sure if they were going to try to get closer to the tank and blow it up or not?

This is part of war. Unfortunately i have seen what i thought were civilians blow up military vehicles.

And this is how propaganda gets spread and can warp minds. We don't know if this car came from a civilian infrantry a mile away and was late in trying to set mines on the road prior to the tanks showing up(there was more than one russian vehicle, a tank or somethingelse, FYI)

Unfortunately this is war and this is not the same as executions of surrendering soldiers or bombing civilian residences.

At the same time, this is part of why war sucks sooo fucking bad and Russia is in the wrong. Fuck war. Dipomacy diplomacy diplomacy. And if that don't work... TRY AGAIN!

So im supposed to trust some tweet headline? I didn't see an article link verifying that's where they came from? If I did, I apologize, i missed it. But Ive seen many misleading thread titles in here, let alone tweets and news feeds to know better than to trust it without verification. I was just going on the video itself, and I see no way anyone can tell who is behind the wheel.

For the record, I watched the vid earlier this morning and it didnt have the elderly headline either. It was I think from an aljazeera site with no article or anything.

Point still stands. This is war and a compact car can indeed carry a weapon that could take out a tank.

That's a pretty shitty standard/justification for shooting and killing civilians. I mean you can use that justification to shoot a mother pushing a baby stroller because the stroller could be hiding a bomb.

It’s terrible but it was pretty terrible seeing troops killed as well.
It’s bad all around. No question.
Civilians should never be brought into it. Fact remains a bunch of Ukrainian civilians have taken up arm and every man under 60 has been asked to fight.
I’m under 60 but could be considered elderly to some? Just sayin.

That's a pretty loose comparison. The bomb in a baby carriage doesn't have the ability to shoot at the tank. It has to get close to the tank. The car can have rocket launchers, etc. A mother and stroller cant quickly drive away if they DID have sinister intentions. This car may have been loaded with cache from mines to grenades. In war, you cant take that chance. It truly sucks. That's why there is no winner in a war.

Again, war truly sucks and this is the reason there never really is a winner The losing/underdog side will always have civilians help. especially when fighting fore their lives. If we were invaded like this, I would take up arms and fight along side my neighbor to protect all of us. The unfortunate bi-product of this is it puts families, my wife, etc. in danger.

So if the elderly couple had seen the tank and turned around to avoid it that could mean they have "sinister intentions" and the tank would have still been justified to fire on them?

Russia is claiming they are there to help the Ukrainians. The level of threat assessment you all are justifying sure doesn't support that.

You guys can play the what if game all you want. The dead couple in that car did nothing to justify the lethal actions taken against them.

You say a baby carriage doesn't have the ability to shoot a tank but then say the car could have been loaded with mines and grenades. I've never served or held a grenade but I bet you can put a lot of fucking grenades in a baby carriage. So yes, saying it's justified to blow up car because they could have grenades can also very easily apply to a mom and baby carriage if you're that cold blooded.

I’m just saying I think we are well past the presumption that Russia is there to help.
Now it’s war.
Terrible act killing an elder Couple possibly just trying to get out of the country or simply just trying to go to their home.

The Russians have killed the elderly, children, and babies. They have shelled schools.

Not there to help

No that isn't what I said at all. The tank would have no right to shoot a baby carriage. They cant outrun. but they could catch up and try to see whats going on.

The reasons Putin says they are there is irrelevant to the video and/or common warfare practice on the ground.


The car was driving towards the enemy. That in wartime is enough to have caution and possibly fire.

What do you think war Is? You think soldiers are going to let a car continue to drive towards them when they are at war? War is war and you are somewhat confirming the softness of American not having been in one to know the real time situation of it being us or them.

Russia is 100% wrong. They are wrong to be shooting anything in Ukraine. That's a civilian car in Ukraine which was just blown up by a Russian tank. Russia and that tank are wrong, no matter the possible circumstances.

Yes, again, Putin is wrong. Soldiers are only following orders. however and when you are a soldier on the ground its kill or be killed mentality.

The soldiers themselves are trained to survive and one of those is to take out inbound threats. I do not see it far fetched to see the inbound car as a potential threat. So they should wait for the car to drive up and blow everyone up? NO they are going to strike from a distance. Same reason we shoot planes down before they get t their target. You dont wait for the plane to drop a bomb before shooting it down.


AGAIN. Russia is wrong. However the soldiers on both sides of this seem to be the victims. They are now in a war and looking to survive.

Experiences are thru knowledge of studying WW1 & WW2.

So few Americans have truly been faced with a "my life or your life" scenario, they arent great judgements on what should and shouldnt happen in a battle. One need not be on a field of war to know this. Just listen to the vets.

I will say. You can be at war and still be mindful of civilians even if you must be vigilant.

You have been there. You know there are times when one feels they must act first to survive. Its me or them.

We don't know these soldiers had that exact feeling as they saw the car speeding towards them.
