Day 165. Ukrainian partisan activity and civilian resistance ongoing in the occupied territories. Occupiers mine infrastructure in Kherson. The first foreign-flagged ship arrives in Ukraine since February, and awaits grain load. Nuclear disaster possible: IAEA director general requests access to Zaporizhzhia NPP. EU condemns Russia’s activities around Zaporizhzhia NPP. Residents of Zaporizhzhia Oblast are advised to stock up on firewood and insulate their homes. Russian occupiers prepare cages to stage ‘show trial’ of POWs in Mariupol. Russian occupation authorities continue to prepare for the integration of occupied territories into the Russian Federation following their upcoming sham annexation referenda. Ukraine says it will receive tanks and planes from North Macedonia. The US readies a new $1 billion Ukraine weapons package.

Today North Korea offered 100,000 troops to Russia to help defeat Ukraine. And so it begins....the N Korea, Iran, Russia, China alliance against the free world.

Day 166: Russian military leadership continues to experience major turnover. Russian forces conducted limited ground attacks and have likely made incremental gains in Donbas, unsuccessfully attempted to advance on Mykolaiv. Forced mobilization continues in occupied Luhansk. Four vessels with Ukrainian grain left Odesa and Chornomorsk. 26,000 war crime cases are under investigation. Sweden will send instructors to the U.K. to train the Ukrainian military. Meta closes a Russian troll factory. North Korea offers Russia 100,000 volunteers to participate in the war in Ukraine.

Day 167 Ukraine calls for the UN, IAEA to send security mission to Zaporizhzhia NPP (nuclear plant). Russia and Ukraine agree to protect the grain shipping channel. Russia continued to focus efforts on reinforcing defenses in southern Ukraine. At least 17.7mn people in Ukraine will need humanitarian assistance this year. $1 Billion in Additional Security Assistance for Ukraine (including more rockets for HIMARs)

The attack on the air base in Crimea by Ukraine is a big deal. First strike into Crimea. First strike of a distance it was thought Ukraine could not cover. There were a lot of russian planes there but really only two confirmed destroyed so far. Psychological effect on both russians (hundreds fleeing from Crimea) and Ukrainians (renewed motivation) is tremendous.

Russo-Ukrainian War, Day 168. Several large explosions hit Russian positions near Sevastopol and north of Crimea. A series of explosions destroyed a Russian Federation airfield Saki near Novofedirivka. Russia did not blame Ukraine. Ukraine has not taken credit. Ukraine will not conduct peace talks without the withdrawal of the Russian Federation troops from Crimea and Donbas. Russian forces conducted ground attacks southeast of Siversk, around Bakhmut, north of Donetsk City and southwest of Donetsk City near the Zaporizhzhia-Donetsk Oblast border. Ukrainian officials claimed that Russian forces continued to fire artillery systems from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and that the Russian occupiers began implementing a plan to connect the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant to the Russian energy system and disconnect it from the Ukrainian energy system. In Mariupol, the invaders force Ukrainian prisoners of war, mostly the Azovstal defenders, to exhume corpses. Russia to stop oil supplies to Europe through the territory of Ukraine. The southern Europe countries carry out record purchases of Russian oil in secret. The Pentagon confirmed sending a new type of missile to Ukraine. The US will allocate $ 89 million to Ukraine for the training for demining experts. Russian officials are continuing to take prominent roles in preparing for the sham referenda in Russian-occupied regions despite Kremlin claims that Russia is not conducting the referenda.

Just like the sinking of the Moskva russian flagship, Kremlin doesn't know how to handle this. They are afraid if they tell russian people that Ukraine did it, that people will realize they may be losing the war.
I see one report today that Ukrainian special forces did this. Possibly true since there is no sighting of a missile coming in videos of explosions. If true this would have been one of the most daring raids in history.

Update: Ukraine claims 9 russian warplanes destroyed in the attack on Saki airbase. Still no confirmation of how the attack was carried out. Ukrainian government source says only that it was done using Ukrainian produced weapon. Possibly the Neptune anti-ship missile using GPS coordinates is speculation by one expert. This would have been a very low flying missile which might explain why it was not seen. Or it could be USA ATACM and USA asked them not to announce it?

A Russian woman visiting Germany verbally abused two Ukrainian refugees and then mocked Ukraine generally. Her hotel reservation was cancelled, she was asked to leave, then her flight was cancelled.

What is Russian equivalent of Karen?

I just looked it up and it's KAPEH in Cyrillic

I don't know if recapturing Crimea is possible, but if Ukraine was able to that would be such an embarrassment for the Kremlin. Definitely rooting for it.

If they hold out I think they'll get Crimea (assuming Crimea wants to be Ukrainian).

Russia can't keep this up for nearly as long as the US can.

Day 169. The Ukrainian army put the Kakhovka bridge in the Kherson Oblast out of order. Kremlin propaganda succeeds in information warfare. The US will provide military aid to Ukraine “as much as necessary.” Britain to send more M270 multiple rocket launchers to Ukraine. Russian [Proxy] head says Azov trial to begin this summer. G7 Demands Immediately Hand Back Full Control over the ZNPP to Ukraine. Switzerland agrees to represent Ukraine’s interests in Russia, but Moscow is hostile.

It's difficult to know what Ukraine's plans are for Crimea. I think they feel they cannot exist with russian military so close and controlling the Black Sea, so at a minimum they would want all russian military out and they would want the Kerch bridge to russia dismantled (which would lessen the military threat and also allow Ukrainian merchant ships to pass through).

The moment Russians obliterated apartment blocks with thermobaric bomb: Terrifying video shows onslaught amid heavy fighting for the Donbas
  • The town of Pisky located on the outskirts of Donetsk was obliterated yesterday
  • Russia's thermobaric weapons were filmed decimating entire apartment blocks
  • Huge fireballs were seen engulfing the building, giving off thick, black smoke
  • The 'vacuum bombs' ignite a cloud of vapour, sucking in the air and unleashing explosions far more powerful and long-lasting than conventional explosives
  • Latest evidence that Russia is indiscriminately bombing residential areas
The Russian military is indiscriminately demolishing blocks of residential housing in Donetsk with terrifying barrages of thermobaric bombs, new video footage has revealed.

The town of Pisky located on the outskirts of Donetsk was obliterated yesterday by Putin's savage thermobaric weapons or 'vacuum bombs', which triggered massive fireballs that completely engulfed rows of apartment blocks.

Thermobaric weapons spray a mist of highly flammable aerosol moments prior to their detonation.

When the blast erupts, the vapour cloud is ignited and sucks in the air surrounding it, creating higher temperatures and more damaging explosions which endure far longer than conventional blasts.

The harrowing clip shared by pro-Russian accounts on the Telegram messaging app represents yet more evidence of Putin's troops targeting residential areas and civilian centres, contrary to official claims made by Russia's ministry of defence.

It comes as the Russian military relaunched a renewed assault to seize more territory in Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions.

It's almost as if russia knows they are losing the war and just want to destroy as much of Ukraine as they can before they are forced out.

Day 170. Latvia announces Russia terrorist sponsor state. Explosions at an airfield in Belarus. The UN Security Council met to discuss the security of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in connection with the Russian invasion. ️The US State Department called on Russian forces to cease all military activity near the Zaporizhzhia plant. Russians shelled Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant four times in one day. Russian forces conducted ground attacks in Donbas and continued to carry out air and missile strikes on military and civilian objects in Ukraine. At least five Su-24 FENCER fighter-bombers and three Su-30 FLANKER H multi-role jets were almost certainly destroyed or seriously damaged in the blasts at the Russian airfield in Crimea. Ukrainians strike on Russian command posts and ammunition depots in the south.

Day 172. Heavy fighting for the village of Pisky, in Donbas. New shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Russian and Ukrainian authorities accused each other of shelling the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Russian military command flees (from occupied Kherson) to the left back of the Dnipro river after HIMARS destroys the last operating overpass across the Dnipro. Explosions reported in occupied Mariupol and Melitopol. The strikes of the Russian army on the civilian infrastructure objects in Ukraine continue. Russia threatened the United States with a severance of diplomatic relations.

CBS censors its own report on Ukraine weapons corruption

Pressure from a foreign government affects the stories we see from our media here in America.

You remind me of the unions during WW2, organizing strikes when the country is at war with Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany. The corruption in Ukraine is bad, just as the wages for workers making B-24s could be higher. But there’s a time and place to focus on those things, and trying to root out corruption during a war is not exactly anyones highest priority, nor should it be.

This is like focusing on the fact that Comcast added a surcharge to your bill that month when someone is actively robbing your house with a gun and is holding your wife hostage. Who cares about Comcast in that moment, let’s focus on the robber.
