Putin's Key Man in the Artic Found Dead After Falling Overboard

The death of a Russian energy executive over the weekend adds to a list of mysterious deaths of high-powered national businessmen since prior to the February 24 invasion of Ukraine.

Ivan Pechorin, 39, managing director of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, reportedly fell off a boat at full speed and died Saturday near Russky Island in the Sea of Japan in Primorsky Krai, Russia, near Vladivostock, about 5,800 miles east of Moscow.

Pechorin worked under Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Russian publication Komsomolskaya Pravda, modernizing aviation in eastern Russia while developing resources in the Arctic in light of heavy sanctions.

Pechorin's last public appearance reportedly occurred at the Eastern Economic Forum, held from September 5 to 8 in Vladivostok. The Daily Mail reported that Pechorin spoke during a session called, "Everyone has their Own Route: The Logistics of a Changed World."

So, it's more than windows and gas tanks. It seems this plague includes drownings and mysterious illness.

Day 202. The Ukrainian army liberates more than 6,000 square kilometers, including the entire northeast of the Kharkiv Oblast and about 500 sq km in the south, from the Russian invaders, launches more than 100 strikes on the Russian positions in the south and continues to advance. Russians likely order the withdrawal of its troops from the entirety of occupied Kharkiv Oblast west of the Oskil River. Zelenskyy rejects negotiations with Russia. More than 800 Ukrainian settlements remain without electricity after the Russian attacks. Nine more ships with grain leave Ukrainian ports. The second backup power line to Zaporizhzhia NPP restored. Bodies of four tortured civilians found in a liberated village in the Kharkiv region. Ukraine calls for more Western arms after the Russian setback. Ukraine received $18B in aid from international partners.

A relatively intelligent and well-executed offensive in the Kharkiv region. Picked an area with poorly trained conscripts and didn’t telegraph the attack like they did in the South. This was all helped by surveillance and satellite data provided by the US, along with all the weapons and equipment. Unfortunately they weren’t able to completely encircle the Russian troops around Izyum before most of them got out, allowing them to somewhat regroup after their disorganized retreat. But sounds like they still captured thousands and captured around 300 Russian armored vehicles which they can now use themselves. While the offensive has slowed a bit, (probably because the supply lines can’t keep up and to set defense lines in case of a Russian counter-attack) they still advance toward cities like Lysychansk and Sievierdonetsk, which Russia fought a month to take.

Slower in the south in the Kherson bridgehead after Ukraine sustained heavy losses initially, as did Russia. However Ukraine continues to target Russian supply lines and seem to be winning the war of attrition despite Russia having skilled and motivated Airborne Divisions in the area. It's only a matter of time until Russia retreats here as well. They just don't have the manpower/supplies compared to Ukraine.

Rumors from Russian military that Ukraine is massing troops in the south with their eyes possibly on Melitopol or Mariupol but that’s not confirmed.

Politically this is nothing short of a disaster for Putin. The military failures are combining with the increasing toll the sanctions are having in many areas, like aviation and the tech industry, due to so many components not being imported. Some companies may be planning mass layoffs.

The danger is Putin pulling a scorched-earth temper tantrum, shedding any pretense that this is just a “special operation” rather than a war, and using tactical nukes to target Ukraine’s infrastructure and cities. We just saw them target the power grid as they liberate Ukrainians from electricity and heat.

Putin could also try a full mobilization but that would cause further political harm and there's no doubt that the skill/motivation of the new manpower would likely not amount to anything other than more dead Russians.

Hopefully this is just the beginning to a complete Russian withdrawal from Ukraine, including Crimea. There's nothing to negotiate at this point until they do in my opinion, despite some allies like Germany and Italy wanting Ukraine to talk peace in order to lower gas prices.

As a former member of Russia's parliament said on air, "We're now at the point when we have to understand it's absolutely impossible to defeat Ukraine using those resources and colonial war methods with which Russia is trying to wage war, using contract soldiers, mercenaries, no mobilization. A strong army is opposing the Russian Army, fully supported by the most powerful countries, in the economic and technological sense, including European countries."

Day 203. The Ukrainian army liberated territory with a total area of 8,000 square kilometers and continue ground maneuvers in Kherson Oblast as part of the southern counter-offensive. Russian troops are reported to leave Melitopol. 300 settlements and 150,000 population liberated in the Kharkiv Oblast. Russian troops made incremental gains south of Bakhmut and continued ground attacks throughout Donetsk Oblast. For the first time since the start of the war, Kremlin recognizes its defeat in Kharkiv Oblast. Fake news about school teachers from the Russian Federation being detained in the liberated territories in the Kharkiv Oblast spread on social media. The Russian military set up torture rooms and kept Ukrainian citizens for extended periods of time. Mass graves discovered in Balakliya. Ukrainian forces provided the first visual evidence of Russian forces using an Iranian-made drone in Ukraine. The Kremlin blames Putin’s military advisors. Russia not to enforce a violated ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan or send the Russia-dominated Collective Security Treaty Organization in its defense. The IMF allocated $1.4 billion in financial support to Ukraine.

Russo-Ukrainian War. Day 204: Russia strikes a dam in Kryvyi Rih, residents evacuated. Ukrainian forces continue to consolidate their control of newly liberated areas of Kharkiv Oblast, with 388 settlements liberated. About 6% of Kharkiv Oblast is still occupied. Construction of fortifications to protect liberated territories begins. High-value equipment abandoned by retreating Russian forces included capabilities essential to enable Russia’s operations. Ukrainian troops destroy Russian forces’ ammo depot in the south. Police officers in Russian-held Kherson resign. Mass refusal of the Russian military personnel to participate in combat operations. 77 ships with grain have already left Ukrainian ports for Asia and Africa. EU to include Ukraine in a single market, free-roaming area. Germany handed over four more Gepards and 65 medical refrigerators to Ukraine.

Ukrainian uses Cyrillic alphabet? Damn. I can read it. Yes, I did learn Russian.
I had a lead engineer who learned to read, write and speak Russian. Greatest ass hole I ever worked with and that's saying something because I've had to work with some of the world's great ass holes.

Does she drink lots of vodka?

Day 205. Russians shelled the Bakhmut district, Kryvyi Rih, the Kirovograd Oblasts. The Ukrainian army destroyed a Russian military base in Nova Kakhovka. Documenting the war crimes of the Russian military continues in liberated Izium. Mass graves with over 400 bodies discovered; estimated 1,000 casualties. The European Parliament voted to allocate 5 billion Euros in financial assistance to Ukraine. The funds are the second tranche of the package for a total of 9 billion Euros. Germany to send Ukraine two universal launchers M270 MLRS, 200 missiles and 50 Dingo ATF armored personnel. Kremlin-linked Russian private military company Wagner Group has been conducting a campaign to recruit Russian convicts for service in Ukraine since at least July.

Last couple days intensity of fighting down as both sides regroup and resupply.

Ten torture chambers were found in the liberated Kharkiv region. Belarus extends military training once more. “LPR Prosecutor General” assassination in Luhansk. Deputy puppet governor of Berdiansk killed along with wife responsible for preparations for “referendum.” Russian missiles hit hydraulic structures in Kryvyi Rih. Over the past 24 hours, Russian occupiers have launched 6 missiles and 28 air strikes, fired more than 90 rocket-propelled grenades at military and civilian targets on the territory of Ukraine. Russian forces continue to prioritize strategically meaningless offensive operations around Donetsk City and Bakhmut over defending against continued Ukrainian counter-offensive operations in Kharkiv Oblast. The Russian military is preparing for a large-scale defense in the east and south of Ukraine. Ukrainian forces liberated a settlement southwest of Lyman and are likely continuing to expand their positions in the area. Ukrainian forces continued to conduct an interdiction campaign in Kherson Oblast. Ukrainian partisans continue attacks on the Russian military assets and logistics in southern Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Russian authorities are working to place 125 “orphan” Ukrainian children from occupied Donetsk Oblast with Russian families. The IAEA reports that the Zaporizhzhia NPP has been reconnected to the Ukrainian power grid. Mykolaiv residents recommended to leave the city. Odesa aspires to become a part of the UNESCO World Heritage list soon. US President Biden warned that the use of nuclear or chemical weapons by Russia in Ukraine will have consequences.

Day 208. Russia has increased its targeting of civilian infrastructure. The Armed Forces of Ukraine cross the Oskil river and took its left bank under control. About 200 occupiers were killed in the explosion in Svatove in Luhansk Oblast. Ukrainian Armed Forces sink Russian barge carrying military equipment and personnel. Armed Forces of Ukraine capture hundreds of Russian soldiers during the counter-offensive. Russia lost a total of 533 units of heavy equipment since 6 September. Around 3.7 million tonnes of food left Ukraine ports under the grain deal. Russian missile hits South Ukraine NPP’s industrial site 300 m away from reactors. Occupiers report a new attack on the POW camp in Olenivka, Ukrainian prisoner of war dies. Spain to train Ukrainian soldiers in the use of tanks and anti-aircraft batteries.

Shooting and killing of civilians is totally unforgivable. I hope you capture and hang ALL of the participating in this unjust war high ranking Russian army officers.

Taking to my buddy who lives in Germany. He told me that natural gas prices are already up 85%, and he just got notice that cost for the company is up 300% from last year and they are set to pass the cost on to the customer October 1st. They are probably not done with increases either. He said most homes use nat gas for heating and a large part of the national power system is fueled by nat gas. Could be a cold winter in Germany.
