A café in Nice, France charges customers for coffee based on how polite or rude they are. According to Eater, a reporter tweeted a photo of a menu board at La Petite Syrah. If a customer just orders a coffee (un café) they have to cough up a whopping 7 euro. If someone orders "un café, s'il vous plait," (a coffee, please) it costs 4.25 euro. But if a customer says "bonjour, un café, s'il vous plait" (hello, a coffee, please) they only have to pay 1.40 euro. Apparently the price difference started out as a joke crafted by the café's owner, but he has seen an attitude change in customers since the sign went up. "I know people say that French service can be rude, but it's also true that customers can be rude when they're busy," he explained.
