Saw a review for Animal Kingdom in The Daily Mail just today. They gave it 5 stars. Apart from that and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, i haven't heard of the others. I'll might have to look into them tho.

Gummo he he! Gummo is one of those movies I liked but I'd hardly recommend to anyone :) I love the part where they are wrestling the kitchen furniture:

The Lives of Others

Just movies I'm batting off the top of my head. All imo, underrated.

Is The Big Lebowski underrated? I mean everyone likes it.

Yeah I was having a hard time deciding what everyone thought was underrated. I mean, as a comedy it's definitely underrated. And while people like it, they don't truly give it the props it deserves.

I like Jeff Bridges' American Heart quite a lot. I liked it a lot better than Crazy Heart.

Was just talking to someone the other day about how people will ask if I've ever heard of The Big Lebowski as though its a super underground movie. Even when it came out it was fairly popular, no?

Then again, every so often I'll bring it up and someone won't know of it. But these are mostly people my age (20) who were pretty young when it came out. Maybe I think its more popular than it was because my cousin always watched it when it first came out.

Same goes for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas too though, its pretty well known and I don't think I've met anyone who thought it was shit. Though I myself think its overrated (never done acid or anything beyond weed though lol so maybe its over my head).

I picked movies that are underrated critically, not publicly. The Big Lebowski has it's share of good reviews but it was lambasted by some critics who said it's too vulgar. It's also a unique comedy with elements of noir thrown in and for it not to be nominated is a joke.

Same with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. When it came out, not one top critic from any of the major publications gave it a good rating. While now some have gone back and changed their earlier judgment and called it a misunderstood masterpiece.

Animal Kingdom was the only movie that was lauded by critics but is still such an unknown film worldwide. I'd put it in my top 10 films of the year.

Those were just films that came to mind.
