Underrated Two-Way Players to Target:

Otto.

Porter.

He'll get the max this summer. Slowly becoming an elite role player. He does a bit of everything and is extremely efficient on the offensive end. Think of him as a rich mans Thabo Sefolosha.

He's a player I'd package the picks for.

I'd love to have Porter too, but why would WAS trade him. They won't be under the cap, so they would have to take back equivalent salary in a trade. If I was WAS (or POR or anyone else), I'd rather have Porter at $21 million a year than Allen Crabbe at $19 million and a couple draft picks.

My FA wishlist:
Jrue Holiday
Michael Carter Williams
Kelly Olynyk
Thomas Robinson
Jeff Withey

Holiday would be a great 3rd guard. Good defender, good offensive player, 6'4 so he could hypothetically play SG next to Dame.
MCW is trash offensively. Absolute trash.
Kelly Olynyk would be a great backup C but he's unavailable.
Robinson? He hurts teams on both ends of the floor. Undersized 4 who can't defend with D-League C skills...
Withey is a decent defensive C who would be a cheap backup option. Is he a FA? I'm not sure.

I wish we could get Crowder somehow, but I don't see a reason Boston would trade him. He would be perfect for us though.

Other FAs I like:
Ty Lawson
Mike Muscala
Gerald Green
Sergio
Shelvin Mack
Trey Burke
Shabazz Muhammed
Zach Randolph
Jeff Green
James Johnson

Ty Lawson? So he can kill a Portlander with his drunk driving? He's a horrible defender too. Pass.
Gerald Green, Trey Burke, Shabazz Muhammed, Jeff Green and Sergio Rondriguez are all horrible defenders. They average a -3.0 DBPM among them.
Shelvin Mack is bad offensively. 51 TS%. Can't shoot. Isn't a plus defender.

I specifically said two-way players in the thread title, and it's funny that you come in here with a list of some of the worst defenders in the league. Since you know more than everybody on this board I figure you could come up with two-way players.

I wouldn't be as harsh about it if you didn't say that. You really shouldn't come on a forum and say you know more than everyone then try to sell them all on Cleanthony Early and Greg Oden. Not the best move.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist also averages more rebounds/48 than any Blazer. If we can play Aminu as a 4, then why not him? He could be a mini Draymond.

How could he be a mini-Draymond?

MKG has made 7 threes in his career (283 games). He is a non-shooter. He also averages only 1.7 apg per 36... Defensively he could be Draymond but he'd be a complete liability offensively.

He's not there yet but has shown flashes of being a very good defender is Julius Randle. He's like Vonleh but will be a reliable (17-19 ppg IMO) scorer. He's also already a very good passer.

Another candidate to package the picks for. The Lakers are in full-blown rebuild mode - see if they bite on all these picks.

Even though he is a Laker, I would definitely take Randle off of their hands. Now that is a poor man's Draymond with room to grow.

Julius Randle has too much low IQ / spaz in his game to make me think he'll ever be a quality starter on a playoff team.

Randle's only 22, though, so he fits their rebuilding timeline. I don't think they'd trade him for several non-lottery picks.

Why wouldn't Randle just be part of the rebuild? He's only 22 years old and will most likely be better than any of the players picked with one of our picks.

You asked for underrated. These players are obviously underrated by you and other people. Also, the first list is the players I like more, the 2nd list is players I also like but who are not as good.
We have if I'm not mistaken, the MLE and minimum contracts to offer so I suggested realistic targets.

I don't think he leaves Memphis if he plays another year... But
Vince Carter.
Guy showed against the Spurs he was one of their better two way bench players in the playoffs. At times he gave Kawhi issues.
I just don't think without moving Crabbe that Portland would even consider targeting him.
Tony Allen > Aminu

Collison
Rubio

Trevor Booker at Nets could be a good target to play for the next season while whoever we acquire as our power forward talent to develop takes time to adjust into the league.

"Underrated Two-Way Players". We need defense badly. We shouldn't add a veteran unless they are a good defender.

Yup, that's the guy I forgot to mention. Good defender, rebounder, and efficient at the rim and midrange. Cheap $9M contract and gettable (plays for BKN).

Ezeli plus future 2nds might get it done.

Are you guys buddies?
When @SwissBlazer attended that second skybox game, he was telling me all about how he texts with Sefalosha and has been trying to convince him forever that he should go to Portland.

I'm certainly in favor. I think he's been out of OKC long enough that the cow patty smell should have washed off by now.

nice exercise but we simply won't have capspace to sign anyone, better to focus on draft and trades for guys who are not UFAs
