Okay: so one thing Olshey seems to be good at is getting castoffs from other teams that turn into useful contributors for us (at least for a time). Rolo, Harkless, Aminu and (to a decreasing degree) Davis.
What with picks being at a premium, I think our best chance at improving is to get somebody like that. (Most recent examples in the league of getting a star like that: Whiteside, Isaiah Thomas.)

With that in mind, are there players in the league that just aren't getting the minutes for their team but that you think could turn out to be really good? I would rule out players like Thon Maker, who I think the Bucks like a lot but who is being brought along slowly, and focus on players who genuinely don't seem to fit in.

My list:
Boban (of course)
Nemanja Bjelica in Minny (continuing the Serbian theme)
Kyle Anderson (really thought this would be his year after his Summer League dominance)
Skal Labissiere (remember when he was the #1 prospect?)
Norman Powell (the Raptors like him, but have a bunch like him)
Terry Rozier (see above, but for Boston)

Of them all, I'd pick Slo Mo as my fave, but then again, a player leaving the Spurs and suddenly blossoming is very rare.

Last season, my underused gem pick was Jon Leuer. Pistons signed him in the off season and he is killing it this season.

You covered most of the good gems. Most what is left are major projects, but will keep looking. I probably add Willie Cauley-Stein to the list.

Seems like we are missing someone.

Geko's aren't trading Powell unless he's included in a deal for someone like Ibaka.
They'll trade Ross first.

Skal Labissiere. That name is worthy of a starting role.

i think WCS would be good for us. at the same time i like ben mclemore. so maybe mason and crabbe for WCS, ben and their 1st round pick

PER is not the end all be all but it is as good of any place to start. I will be mentioning some that have already been mentioned.

Boban Marjanovic
Briante Weber (could have been had from the D League)
Joel Bolomboy
Skal Labissiere
Kyle O'Quinn
Rakeem Christmas
Archie Goodwin
Montrezl Harrell
Jeff Withey
Willie Reed
Malik Beasley
John Jenkins
Christian Wood
Chris McCullough
Stephen Zimmerman
Cheick Diallo
Lucas Nogueira
Willie Cauley-Stein

All with a PER over 16 (some way over) and yet with room to still improve.

Briante Weber (could have been had from the D League)

Considering the Warriors just plucked him themselves, I doubt he's going to be available cheaply due to being overlooked (as I assume is the premise of "underused gems").

Yes. He is the one you would have got for free but not now (although GS has too many guards and they will have to get rid of one at some point). We don't need guards either though so I can see why we didn't go for him yet.

Briante Weber would be the all-time NCAA steals leader if he hadn't've got injured his senior year. I love him for that, but I fear he doesn't have much BBIQ. Sort of the PG version of T-Rob.

I thought he only signed a 10 day contact

He did, but the Warriors can sign him to another 10 day contract and then sign him for the rest of the season. Considering he signed with them despite having offers from other teams, he'll probably stay with them all season if they want him.

*Potential gems:

Tyler Ulis

Mario Hezonja

Kyle Anderson

Juan Hernangomez

WCS
