I like Birch but DAMN is he skinny...209 lbs.

Barry looks a lot like Dame without the explosiveness....so maybe more like CJ.

:matrix:

I won't be surprised if Birch has talks with Cle. They have a lot of bigs and if they could move one and her place them with Birch then they would free a lot of cap room.

Excited to see Appling play, we could do the same with him if he pans out.

He's between Dame and CJ? Dame was almost an all star and CJ didn't really show anything.

Khem Birch is playing for the wizards summer league team.

Ex-Zag Sam Dower has been invited to the Blazers Summer League. Should be fun to watch. He has good size and has a lot of Zach Randolph about him. Didn't have a great senior year though. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at training camp either.

The more I see of this guy the more intrigued I become. Front office is probably laughing at the hyped draft causing him to go in noticed. Wonder how tight him and Dame are. I'm sure they know eachother well since they both grew up in Oakland around the same time, and played for weber state together.

I wouldn't put it past olshey, he's cold as hell. This guy is probably going to be talked about a lot next year.

Edit:

Refers to dame as his "big brother"

A nice article from 2011 about Lillard which discusses his friendship with Berry.

It all started in first grade, when PJ Taylor and Lillard became best friends. Along the way, they picked up Dondrale Campbell, Drake Green, Davion Berry and Mark Samuels, plus Taylor's little brother, T.J. They played AAU basketball together and developed college ambitions, rising above the culture of the Oakland streets.

Another article, this one about Berry growing up. It pinpoints when Dame and Berry began to collaborate.

As he transitioned into high school, a move back to the housing projects of West Oakland came along with it and provided Berry with pivotal moments that helped to shape his future. It was during this time that Berry, along with another young aspiring basketball player named Damian Lillard and several other high school friends, formed a pact and give it a name, Certified Fly Guys, which was a promise made to each other and their parents that each of them would stay in school and ultimately earn their college degrees.

Had no idea this guy and dame went that far back. I wonder why this isn't being talked about more. Possibly because he was overlooked in a draft which is being considered overhyped? Is portland simply doing Damian a favor by giving one of his good friends a shot?

You see quality players go I drafted all the time. Anyone else excited about this guy?

He could wear 00

Just because he's friends with Lillard doesn't mean he's actually any good. Well see.

nice story, here's another article

I do not believe in a coincidence this big. Of course he's on the summer league team because of Damian. And it most likely works both ways. He got invited because of Dame. He wants to be with the Blazers because of Dame.

It will be funny if he makes the roster and ends up being Dame's 'rookie'.

If this description is accurate, I am not too excited unless they plan on trading some of our young SG's:

"Berry reminds me a bit of a young Wesley Matthews. He plays above average defense, has below average handles, and is an exceptional three-point shooter"

He might not be the next Bruce Bowen, but he might be worth a spot on the bench when some perimeter D is needed.

If he plays point in summer league that makes him that much more interesting to watch. He could potentially replace Watson as the third PG. Not really worried about the whole "2 roster spots left" thing because I'm expecting a trade or two in the coming weeks. We got too many young guys and not enough minutes or time to develop all of them.

In Summer League he'll be trying out for the D-League, not the NBA.

Pretty much.

Though, I will say that Berry's advanced stats are pretty impressive.

With the Blazers giving up their affiliation with the Stampede, will they still send their rooks there?

Chris Haynes @ChrisBHaynes
Idaho Stampede F/C Dallas Lauderdale is dealing with a severe high ankle sprain and has pulled off #Blazers Summer League roster, I'm told.
